Who really has the genes in this pool? I was amazed to see this huge-antlered deer cower as this muscle-bound brute came over and took all his ladies without any resistance. My theory is: Arnold was also getting bullied by the other bucks that had big racks. The big horned bucks called him names like ?Willow Horn?, ?Retard Rack? and ?Puny Points? and were always pushing him around. Last year, Arnold decided he had enough and began shooting up large quantities of cattle steroids, bench pressing boulders, and running up and down the steepest, nastiest cliffs he could find preparing for the rut.

wow thats a massive body. i was looking at the antlers in both pictures until i read your post. thought i was going to have to clarify which buck is better.lol

LAST EDITED ON Sep-20-11 AT 01:17PM (MST)[p]That willow horned buck clearly outweighs the NT. The bigger buck would use his bulk to outmuscle and outfight the lighter buck, possibly resulting in severe injuries to the NT. So I'm guessing the NT is wisely avoiding the uneven match and hoping for better odds some place else.

He looks like a young deer not even in his prime. Wait until he reaches his prime and it will be a different story.

Harlan, killer photos as always. Didn't one of your make the cover of MDF?

BTW- Tell Ann I still have your banner from AntlerFest. I keep forgetting to send it. I think I may just keep at this point. I've had it long enough....

All the studies you read never say the biggest racked buck gets to do all the breeding, and the few whitetail studies I have read say the larger racked older bucks do the least amount of breeding,I wouldnt think it would be much diffrent for mule deer.

That willow buck could be as many as 3 or 4 years older than the non-typical. I'm betting he's old as dirt and regressing. If thats the case then yeah, he's gonna do some pushing.

The big boy just might be on the downhill side,But he still has the weight to push around that young Buck. Kind of like MM land LOL

Yep, looks like the typical is the stronger buck, I could easily tell that and that is wht I would take the weaker buck during the season any day, for the good of the herd of course. :)

The one really wearing the jeans is the doe just out of the pic. Mabey she dosen't like little boys with Nepolian syndrome and will take the young more attractive one? The darn girls ALWAYS have the final say :)
