The 2011 Biennial P&Y Convention has officially recognized George Harms 2009 Mexico buck as the new WR typical. The buck scores 205 0/8" and replaces the former WR typical taken in 1979.

Awesome....

Government doesn't fix anything and has spent trillions proving it!!!
Let's face it...After Monday and Tuesday, even the calender says WTF!

What about the UT buck from last year - did it not end up being the new WR Typ? Chad Kulow's buck. I must have missed something, but that is not new. Wasn't it 204 something?

P&Y recognizes velvet and non velvet categories. This buck is the WR typical in the non velvet category.

There's no separate category for velvet

My bad. There is no separate velvet category. They are simply listed as a velvet entry. Thanks Snort for correcting my oversight.

Accordingly to P&Y, MATT LILJENQUIST's AZ buck from 2010 was the second highest scoring typical during the 2009&2010 scoring window at 194 and 4/8.

Not the point smart guy. The point is Chad's wasn't number one if the WR was from 1979. I now know why the WR was still from 1979 thanks to good people here at MM.

I just had a question after reading this post, in the P&Y newest book it list some Brad Hunter as the hunter of a deer last year that was shot in mohave county, aka arizona strip that killed a 209 1/8.... Where is this deer and why doesn't anybody know about it or have a picture of it? It looks to me like Brad's deer would be the biggest deer ever killed with a bow velvet or non velvet? Someone please explain this to me?

Brad Hunter's buck is measured in velvet. Velvet animals are NOT eligible for world record status. They MUST be stripped and panel measured to be eligible.

Velvet entries (all antlered species) are accepted as a non-ranked animal in their respective class (in this case typical mule deer-velvet) and will appear only one time in the record book. Their entry will, however, remain in the P&Y archives forever as an accepted animal.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-02-11 AT 01:54PM (MST)[p]Beauty Buck for sure but whats with the body size being that of an elf? Either that thing is a midget or BOHNTR is a giant man. ;)

Steve......don't you know I'm a hunk of a man. :) :)

Actually, I thought the same thing when I first saw the deer. One deceiving thing is the buck is actually pretty darn wide, as his INSIDE spread is 31 0/8".....I believe outside was around 34" wide? His gross typical score was 217 0/8". Just imagine if he had a matching G1 and symmetrical tine length as his strong side......

I've got a couple of hunting buddies that are giant freaks that always make our deer look small too. The secret to good field photos is to throw a midget like me in there and the deer always look big no matter how small they are. :)

In all seriousness, this buck has an amazing rack and congrats to the hunter for harvesting such a giant. Not very often do ya see Mexico bucks being taken with a bow. That is what makes is buck even more special.

It's true! Brad Hunter of Cedar City Utah possess a 209 net typ.
he killed last year with a bow. It's a phenomenal buck and he is a great guy. The buck will grace the cover of EBJ next issue complete with story. If he would have rubbed it it would be #1.

Wow! That's a sweet buck. Bucks like that only come along once in a lifetime if that.
