I drew the Dolores triangle deer late season (nov 19- dec 2) i got lucky and drew it with 8 points. I Have only been on the colorado side of this unit and i was wondering if anyone that has hunted this unit especially the late season. I am planning on taking a few trips out there and i was wondering what canyons and places i defiantly need to go look at. I am looking for a 180 inch buck so i would like all the info i could get. Thanks

+1 southslope. I actually don't know that perticular area but those late hunts are really affected by the weather. You could have no snow or 2'+ of snow and obviously that will really change where the deer are and where you can even get to. Hopefully you get some snow, but not too much.

I hunting it back in 2000, and had a blast, but wished I had the optics I have now. In 11 days of hunting I saw 155 bucks, but never a 180 buck. The CO side never got the snow. I'd hit the Ryan park area, and everything West of it. Glass, glass, glass.

My brother drew the muzzleloader tag for this unit, with two points, lucky kid. The hunt starts Dec 3rd, I was wondering if anybody would be kind enough to give us a good starting point. I know it depends on the snow falling in colorado to push them down. We plan on doing some scouting around thanksgiving, but do not know the area at all. We are not new to mule deer hunting in this kind of country and are very prepared to do a lot of glassing. I know there are great people on this site, and would be grateful for any info.
Thanks
