Not bad, even if you are my kid. A friend was caping this buck tonight and said we should come over and look at it. Somebody had thumped it with an arrow. It never hit and grey matter, just buried into bone at the base of the antler. There was still a small hole in the hide were the arrow insert was sticking out.

His uncle called me at 11:00 saying he had seen this buck heading for his bed and he was going to excuse my kid from school. He said the buck was probably a 4 x 4 and around 20 inches wide, he was quite aways from it and didn't have his binos. I called Rosten (my son) and told him to get his a$$ back to school and we would head out after school was out. We went up to the area were the buck was last seen. We glassed for quite a while and could not see him or the other buck that he was with. We decided to put the wind in our favor and try and find him. About 15 minutes into the hike we jumped him out of a small ravine where he had been trying to get out of the wind. Ross ended up taking him with a double lung shot at 125 yards. It was great to hear the familiar smack of the round hitting. He went about 50 yards and was done. We thought he was chasing a 20 inch buck so when we got up on him there wasn't any ground shrinkage.

Nice buck, congratulations! Was there a broadhead in the skull? It doesn't look like there are any blade holes.

Way to go Roster! Its good to see that you won't carry on the name "butt and guts" like your old man! Sweet buck!

Great first post..!!!

That's a stud deer for sure, and especially for a general season buck...!!

That country looks like a lot of fun to hunt.

Yes there is a broadhead stuck in it. What you see in the picture I posted is the insert from the arrow and it tip of the threaded portion of the boradhead. All of the blades buried flush with bone.

Rosten...it was a spike by two, get it right! That broadhead is crazy. I couldn't figure out how you guys could kill a buck like that....now i know, it was retarded because of the broadhead lodged in its skull. j/k! you guys did good!
