Hey all. It's been months since I've been able to get on here. Looks like a lot of people are having a good season. I posted this summer about Colorado unit 61 3rd season mule deer hunting and got a lot of nice feedback. I have only had a couple days off of work in the last few months and haven't had much time to plan. We have horses available and are lookin to try and get our friend (may be one of his last hunts like this) a really good buck. Does anyone have any info on where to start or good areas to check out? I lost all my info from this summer on previous replies so I'm back at square one. Thanks for looking and any help.

I would try over by Nucla or Naturia (sp). 61 to me is a much better Elk zone than a deer zone unless you can hunt some private. 70 has a lot of nice bucks. Good luck.

Thanks for the help. I'll try starting somewhere around there. Who knows about the private access, but we'll see....

61 HAS GREAT DEER. JUST HARD TO HUNT. HUNT THE LOWER TONGUE. I HAVE SEEN SMOKERS THERE DURING LATE SEASON. GET THERE OFF OF DIVIDE ROAD AROUND MONUMENT HILL. BLUE CREEK AREA GOOD ALSO. GOOD LUCK

Thats encouraging news! Would you suggest horses? We ha e some mountain horses available that have been into Greys river area of Wyoming all year. Legged up and ready to go! Thanks for the info. We're excited to hunt!

They would be a big help during that season especially if they pack. I would for sure take them. Tire chains also. Deep Canyon is a good spot also. I have a friend that bow hunted elk in 61 in 2010 and saw two bucks that would go over 200 in Deep Canyon. He is no stranger to big bucks. Lives in Eastern Plains of Co and betweem him and his dad they have killed seven bucks over 200. Good Luck
