LAST EDITED ON Oct-23-11 AT 02:42PM (MST)[p]Yesterday I brought down my 3rd Colorado mule deer! What a crazy, fun, fantastic, wonderful hunt. (Pictures below)

The hunt started off late...about 5:00. When we got up to where we were going to hunt, the guys pointed us in the direction where there was a REALLY nice buck. He was huge. But the sun was shining in a weird way therefor I couldn't see through my scope. He ran away :( We drove a little ways and then got out and walked. We saw one litlle 2 point but couldn't get a good shot. When we started walking back to the truck, we saw another buck. He was nice, and I decided to take a shot. He was about 120 yards away. We got him to stand still for just a second, and I shot! It hit him far back. It broke his leg and was a gut shot. He jumped the fence onto someone else's land so I couldn't finish him off. We knew he was going to die...it was just a matter of time.

And THEN it gets crazy.

We had to go get permission from the land owner. After much convincing he said we could go and get my buck. We met up with my cousin, uncle, and family friend. My Daddy and I hopped the fence and started looking for the buck. He was no where to be found. He had gotten up and walked away! Finally, we caught his eye, but it was pitch black and I couldn't see him through the scope. He got up again and we lost him. We went back to the car and decided we'd come back in the morning. As we were driving away, my uncle spotted him right next to the fence lying down. But of course he wasn't dead yet. So I finished him off. I nailed him right through the chest and he was a goner.

So after much effort, I took down my 3rd mule deer. At 14, I am 3 for 3. I had so much fun with my dad and brother.

What a day! After watching my little brother play and win his football game to take the team to the championship, I got to go hunting! How lucky am I? Excited to go to school and show all the boys :) Can't wait till next weekend for elk hunting :)

Yes, my hands are bloody.
Yes, my fingernails are painted neon pink.
And yes, I did paint them that color JUST for hunting season.

There's room for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potato's and gravy.

Nice job and congrats.
I miss hunting with my daughter and your story reminded me of how much fun it was. She is too busy to hang out with me now but time will change all things.
Good luck on your elk hunt young lady.

I guess i will be the one to bring this up, but that's a cross buck. Half muley half whitetail. Notice the face, body, ears, and tail. I haven't seen many, but that is 100% a cross.

Nice job!! Take those pics to school and show all those boys how to get it done!

HOOK 'EM!

Congrats on a great hunt! Now get that 4th pic blown up and framed and that'd be one Fathers Day present that your dad will love! BTW - I'm going against every instinct in my body and seriously considering painting my nails hot pink..... I have not been 3 for 3 in a long, long time, ..... maybe forever!

Great job on following through and getting it done! As Edpr said, I bet your dad would love that pick of the two of you in a frame.
