Hey guys I have been huntin very hard with my dad this week with virtually no success. We have two central region tags. We have put in 4 hard days of hunting and the only thing we could have shot at was a very small two point opening morning. We have been hunting Broad canyon near Eureka with very little success. We have been hiking a ton but mostly up high at 7,600 ft, maybe they are down lower? We have seen very few deer at all. In fact we went out again tonight and saw nothing but two does about a mile a way... Anyway, I would love to put my dad on a good buck. I am looking for some advice on the central region... I do not know it very well at all... maybe I am losing my touch. I am not looking for any one to give me there sweet spot but I would much appreciate it if you guys could give me a few pointers/tips on location, elevation and vegetation. We are going out again this weekend. I was maybe thinking the Strawberry Reservoir area or the mountains behind Nephi near Maple Canyon/Fountain Green. Any general advice on how to hunt these areas or tips for other areas would be much appreciated. Feel free to PM me. Thanks again.

If you dont know how to hunt the desert you will need to be very lucky to see a buck to shoot! Head to sheepcreek and hike your a$$ off.

Is sheepcreek in the central region? The only sheepcreek I am familiar with is near Flaming Gorge, which is definitely not in the Central region... Any tips for hunting the desert... anyone...? Hunt high up... pines/aspen or hunt low... cedars/sagebrush?

Try any peak in American Fork Canyon. Get on top with a 45 power spotting scope.

Nebo Peak....backside....need a spotting scope as well.

In either of these two areas you need horses or a backpack. Get in there at least 3 or 4 miles. Get close to the tops.

Also try the Stansbury Mtns. Willow creek canyon....get on top

Cascade mtn up Provo canyon...backside, above 9000 ft elevation

west canyon in oquirh mtns....get on top...have good binos, ability to shoot over 300 yards...waterproof boots, 0 deg. sleeping bag, 4 days off work, and a spotter of 45 power or more.

I dont mind posting this info because most....if not all....people will not climb, or hunt hard enough to do what it takes to get a buck in that country. I hunted one of these spots all week...saw many bucks...took a nice 4 point...and never saw anyone after opening day. Saw over 15 bucks in 3 days and over 20 does....have fun
