I am looking for a form to fit my deer on and it is proving difficult. His neck measured 32 inch in the field and my Taxi measured it at 30 inches caped in his shop. Also measured 8 5/8 tearduct to nose. All forms we find seem to be for much smaller deer.Jonas supply has wall mounts at 8 and 28.I was hoping for a pedestal mount but cant find anything close. Any and all suggestions welcomed.thx

Use an elk form if he is that big. Most trophy elk have 30-32 inch necks, a huge one might go 36. A good taxi isn't constrained by a catalog and can custom make a form to fit the cape. Its not your job to find the form, is it?

Not sure if they have your size or not but Trufitt taxidermy supply in Salt Lake City has a very good selection of forms.

+1....you took the words right out of my mouth UGAhunter.....

Geeze, I'm still shaking my head on this one!!!

First off- where is a pic man...?? :D :D

Secondly- as has been stated, a good taxi can alter just about any form, including adding structure to the neck (like in the case of a swollen, rutting buck). A great taxi will do this in such a way that it will still appear natural... If your guy lacks the confidence to alter a form, a 28" form is still prety friggin big

Another thought- My uncle has meaured bucks in his shop regularly since starting to do taxi work for a hobby. Last year, he measured a cape before it left, and when he got it back, it was about 2" smaller... I don't think this happens to all of them, I'm jsut saying that give or take 2" won't make too much of a difference in your mount...

Again- let's see a pic of your buck... :D :D

You could get a Whitetail form and replace the head with a mule deer head. The cost of the forms are a little higher but there are a lot more whitetail forms out there than mule deer.

My Taxi said the same thing. He would take care of it and alter the form to fit the deer.I was just curious to see if I could find one to fit.The pic is under diy mule deer 2nd season on this forum.I've checked some taxidermy forums and there appears to be a lot of dissatisfaction with the shape of the heads on a lot of the mule deer forms.I have 360 video of my buck down so my Taxi should have no problem. Thx for all the good info.

Here is one of his neck hanging outside of cabin.

Hmmm!...still shaking my head!...

Anyhow, It would be great to see a photo of the finished product when your Taxidermist gets him done..

Congrats on a Great 2nd season Buck!

Yes it is the circumference of the neck at its smallest point just below head.Uncle Bo spent a lot of time in Alaska and shot a lot of caribou up there and he estimated this buck at 350-375 live wieght.I shot a two hundred pound dressed Whitetail that had a 28 inch neck and this muley dwarfs that deer in body size. When the taxi measured he turned the hide inside out, laid it flat, and measured straight across just under head.15 inches x 2= 30 inch.Only difference between his measurement and mine was 2 inches of fur.

Where's a field photo of this buck. The photo posted is just an optical illusion imho. I could replicate it all day long with a 2 point buck. Maybe you took one sitting 30 feet behind the deers butt while someone got right up to the bucks head with a wide angle lenses.

You are right guys!I was just trying to pull a slick one.Y'all saw right through me.No Muley in his right mind ever measured 8 5/8 and 30 inches!!!Can't get one past y'all.Thx to those who gave honest answers. I look forward to showing pics of the finished mount when complete.

Looking forward to seeing it. The buck you did post is a great buck either way. Just wanted to see a good photo of that bad boy. Not poking fun in any way!
