LAST EDITED ON Nov-09-11 AT 01:36PM (MST)[p]This is my good friend Travis's Henry's management buck. The hunt started on Monday October 31st and only went till Friday November 4th. When Travis called me Wednesday and told me he hadn't got anything yet I called a long time friend and good hunting buddy of mine, Jason and we loaded up and took the 5 hour drive down that night after work. Thursday morning we made a plan to have Travis and his dad head out to a point and be spotting while me and Jason went to some other areas. After about 45 minutes after light me and Jason found this monster chasing does a meer 50 yards off the road. Jason stayed back and watched the buck and I headed around the mountain to find Trav and his dad. When we got back to the buck he had walked into the thick oak so Jason made a little push through the brush hoping to drive him out to the open. No luck, only the does and the littler bucks came out, the big 2X4 put the slip on us. This was the biggest buck Travis had seen after spending the past week down there and he was a little discouraged. Later that night we put together a plan and headed back out. Withing an hour we picked back up on the buck and Travis made a great 300 yard shot putting the monster down. He ended up being 29 3/4" wide, scored 171 and had a 10 inch eye guard with 2 different kickers coming off of it.

Ya and also had a little better experience this time as well. But not sure if it will be as memerable.

That is the perfect type of buck to shoot on a management tag, a big mature buck that anyone should consider a trophy.
Congrats to the hunter.

Shoot em till their dead

Cool deer! Love the Henries. I picked up a couple small sheds this spring at the base of that hill in the middle of the picture.

I'm pretty sure that is excatly what the management hunts were supposed to produce... Old, Mature bucks with crazy, "less desirable" antlers...

You guys done good..!!! He's stud..!!

less desirable antlers,,, really, that buck is a 1oo times harder to come by than say 185 buck.to the hunter way to go. thats a one in a life time kind of buck......

Awesome buck! And check out that neck!
That was one of the funnest hunts I have ever been on and even though they are management bucks, there are some great trophy's that are taken...You found one of those!
Congrats!
