LAST EDITED ON Nov-25-11 AT 10:26AM (MST)[p]One minute after shooting and hitting a 300-class 6x6 bull at 400 yards, this 11x7 buck came out following a doe. One shot from 300 yards did the job. The buck is 38.5 inches wide, with a 34 inch main frame and 31 inch inside spread, for a total of 235 points non-typical.

Good thing we dont have any mtn lions here in Co or there would not be any bucks like that left!!

Just kiddin - great buck man one of the best that has come across here this year.

IMO you got a better buck there than the guy who pd 250k to hunt a island :)...

I almost didn't open this because I thought there was going to be a long haired TV hunter in it. GREAT buck!

My camera battery died after taking all the pics of the buck! I didn't bring an extra one with me while hunting. I have only the antlers. Got back to camp after dark and the only pics I have are of the antlers and it doesn't do it justice. Beautiful bull and no pictures...s__ happens. Will have to take pics after it is mounted.

RE: Colorado Buck - Second try posting photo

what a solid buck! hes heavy throughout! what a deer! congrats hunter!

RE: Colorado Buck - Second try posting photo

What a toad!! Sounds like alot of work knocking down a bull and a buck right next to each other. Bet that was a long day. Congrats.

I'm no B & C official scorer, but used the B & C website. The tape doesn't lie. I will have it officially scored in 60 days.
Score really doesn't mean anything to me. My biggest buck ever. I just wanted to share the photo.

No one kills bucks bigger than Horn Star, just need some snow, the rut, and the rez and you can get er done! Then get on here and put down everyone else! :) What a life!

Great buck, I would shoot it!

What a nice buck, they just don't get much better than that.

Congrats on the elk and the buck.

I see horn_puke is bored again, must not be anything to shoot on the Rez. lately

Huge buck, dont worry about Horn Star, he's god's gift to hunting he can tell what anything that is posted on this sight scores within 1/8".

Shoot em till their dead

Love the mass. How about the pic of the bull? Congrats.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-26-11 AT 11:40AM (MST)[p]That would be awesome to kill two great trophy's back to back.

That buck is a toad, don't listen to horn_star he has nothing to do but sit around and put other people down while he is waiting for more snow to push all the bucks into his backyard.

RE: Colorado Buck - Thank you for your kind words

Thanks to all of you for your kind words, save one. I never thought I would kill a buck worthy of posting on Monster Muleys.

You sir have definately killed a "monster muley". I am truley jealous. That is the kind of buck i dream of. Thanks for sharing.Congrats!!!!

RE: Colorado Buck - Thank you for your kind words

Why you guys always gotta make me the bad guy? All I said was I dont think he is 235". DO you know how much horn 235" is? Just for kicks assume that deer has a 200" frame, which it doesnt.. then it would need 35" of extras which it doesnt have. The deer has maybe 12-15" of trash which would require it to have a 220"-223" frame which is out of this world big, and that deer dont have it. Sorry if I offended anyone but looking at the pics and the numbers given it just dont add up.

here is what I think he is
g1s 2.5 2.5
g2s 19 17
g3s 10 9
g4s 8 11
mb 22 25
H 20 20
iss 25=
191" frame + 15 " trash = 206"

I might be way off I might be close but I bet Im within 5" +/-. Would I shoot him hell yeah he's 38" wide and heavy as hell, he is a toad.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-27-11 AT 10:43PM (MST)[p]Horn-torn,
Its not bcause your wrong, cause youre not....About the 235" score, well the buck must have left the 35" at home on the dresser, because it sure isn't on him now. Heres some advice, you've got to learn to use some tact. For example, When a guy post pictures of a deer that he claims is 235" you can't just go off and ask him if he was measuring all four of the legs when he scored it, it's just not polite. Always be courteous and let them enjoy their canard. (plus im sure the people that do that are nervously comimg back to their keybords, fearing that the truth has somehow gotten out). So do what I do and just don't mention it in any way at all. ;)

I thought just leaving it plain, simple and to the point of saying "I dont know about that" wasnt disrespectful in anyway. I wasnt trying to be funny or a jerk just respectfully disagreed.

RE: Colorado Buck - Thank you for your kind words

Why is it that sarcasm has the most dificult time coming across in type?!? Horn... I was just foolin around with you...was from the start. The buck pictured above is not the one being described in the original post, if it is then one of a few things needs to happen;
1) B&C needs to verify that the way they tell a hunter to measure his deer on thier web site is right,
2) someone needs to learn how to follow B&C's steps for measuring their deer
3) someone that shot a great deer decided to cheapen that when they posted its picture the gave it inches it didn't need while describing it.

RE: Colorado Buck - Thank you for your kind words

Horn star, just a quick observation. I rarely see any positive posts out of you. What I do see is you questioning the score on every buck that is posted, without fail. Who cares if you dont think it scores 235. Guy killed a great buck, let him live in his moment! Just gets old that 90 percent of your posts are negative.

RE: Colorado Buck - Thank you for your kind words

90% I need to check your math on that and show your work please.

My wife and I measured 235 gross and 227.5 net...211 inch main frame. We will have it officially scored after the 60-day waiting period and will let you know what it is.

That buck is a giant!! Can we see some more views of him from the side? Congrats I hope I can kill a buck anywhere that big in my lifetime.

Got to love it if they are arguing on here if your buck is a 210", 220" or 230" buck - shows you got a big un bro.

Good job again on a pig of a buck.

That buck is a BEAST and it doesn't matter on score.

Having said that I think Hornstar lacks tact at times but the way he handled this one seemed pretty mild to me, I think if you post pics on here with score you open yourself to criticism so you need to be able to handle it or back it up. Sounds like ore is ready to back it up with getting it OFFICIALLY scored.

Having said that I personally don't see the inches either but don't really care and normally would not say a thing but I don't think Hornstar deserves to be crucified for this one (a few others maybe) but not this one. Nothing to do with right or wrong on numbers just his handling of it.

Buck of a lifetime for most of us.....even amongst the MM membership. I too don't think Horn Star was doing anything but just being direct and not hateful. When you throw out a number it is what it is and you basically ask folks to break out the mental measuring tape. Amazing buck and I really can't think of a tag in colorado that I would have hesitated to use on that deer......what a stud. It would be cool to see a shot of the buck's rack next to that bull orestimba....if even just on the garage floor. What a season to remember for you!

I am great friends with dan and outfitted for hin last year he is a great guy abd was very willing to allow me to fuise for him it is heautiful country where he is at and even better hunting. He has done a great job managing his heard and started with only a herd of about 20 congrats on a great bull and hope jesse and dan were happy with both ur kills haha but i know they are
$MAVERICK$

It does not matter what the score is and dont listen to the professional idiots that can score a buck with in an inch on the net! They have not held the buck and scored it off a tape, you have!! Besides that, you killed an awesome buck that we all dream of and only a few of us will actually even see let alone kill!
I feel privileged to even have seen it in person and hold the horns for second, and I can say its legit!!! I guessed it would go at least 230 before it was even measured. To even get to the 200" mark is a huge accomplishment and who the hell cares if its 220, 225, 230 and so on!! Its a hell of a buck and it was killed after many years of hunting hard and eating tag soup here and there!! For those of you that think he is adding score just for the sake of saying its bigger, not a chance! Ive known him for half my life and the guy has outstanding integrity and does not throw bs out there.
I have been looking at this website for years and barely this year have chimed in to post and respond, and it amaze me how a great thread and buck can be sidelined by mere lack of respect.
Great buck! (No matter the score, its a much deserved accomplishment for a hunting career.)

I would like to see the 300" set of horns of the bull you shot right before this buck. The request in a post earlier asked the same thing even if it was on the garage floor-be cool to see them side by side! Not many people ever get to do that kinda thing. Youre very lucky.

Son

ya ever think that the guy dont wanna post the pict of the bull cuz a bunch of idiot internet experts are gonna pick his score apart on it too (although i would like to see it). its a heck of a buck and congrats to the hunter.

RE: Colorado Buck and Elk Antlers

Thats what I'm talking about! That is a day to remember and you can believe that regardless of score on either NOBODY here would pass on the buck and very few would pass the elk anywhere but the best units and maybe not there for some.

I want to make it perfectly clear I do not think you embellished or fudged your score in any way. It is VERY dificult to judge a buck by two pics on the internet. Just reference the score contest we all did in the off season and you will see that there are NO expert in these pages although some people are pretty good.

Anyways all aside congratulations on the day of ten lifetimes.

RE: Colorado Buck and Elk Antlers

I wouldn't kill the bull in any unit with any weapon-that's just me tho.

RE: Colorado Buck and Elk Antlers

>Cause your such a bad a$$!
>lol

No, it's because I'm such a horrible shot. :)

Son

RE: Colorado Buck and Elk Antlers

Thanks for humouring my request to see them side by side!!!! Wow....I bet your head was flat spinning after the chaos of those minutes on the mountainside that day. Having the buck rack by the elk really puts the mass on your buck in proper perspective.....what a gagger! Once again, Congrats on a fantastic buck and thank you for sharing it with us. The buck doesn't do that bull justice....LOL. Damn fine elk too.

RE: Colorado Buck and Elk Antlers

Great buck and bull, good for you. That is one monster buck and don't worry about horn-star, it is a common post.

Sonofsouth, I was going to post you in the "rememember MM's post" that is going on, you and Huntsonora, welcome back

Rich

RE: Colorado Buck and Elk Antlers

They tend to look down on computer usage, forums etc in the Stoney lonesome. Na I appreciate it, I've never left just kinda hung out in the wings, you get busy and next thing you know a lot of times gone by. So, still here still an ass, still hunting and having fun.

Son

The picture of both racks are outstanding, to get both a minute or two apart, Wow that a helluva a hunt. The buck is pretty awesome.
