LAST EDITED ON Nov-29-11 AT 10:02AM (MST)[p]Fellow hunters-

I have a dilema. The evening before thanksgiving I smacked a big buck right through his front left shoulder when he was broadside. The arrow stopped on the opposite shoulder inside. So it just did not blast through both shoulder blades. Got about 8 inches of penetration. The broad head has busted off inside. I am shooting a grim reaper mechanical. The shot was a hair foward right in the shoulder. He only went a 100 feet and started laying down, an hour later just as light was fading I tried to sneak in on him and put another arrow in him as he was not dead. He ended up following his doe into some thick scrub oak below me and then light faded. To make a long story short I went back the next morning and have searched for him now for four days with no luck. He is around 28 inches wide with a big inline on his right side. He is a 4 X 5. He also has a three to four inch cheater on the right side. My biggest deer to date. Thanks in advance for keeping your eyes open for me! Good luck hunting!

What general area were you hunting?

Browning A-Bolt 300 Win Mag

Please invest in some MonTech Broadheads!
Somebody posted about a Lambs Canyon Buck being wounded by a StickFlipper, did you read that?

Hot Dog,Hot Damn,I love this Ameri-can

Montech? Hmmm I know of 2 bucks still on the hoof after getting hit by a Montec this year. I'd put a Reaper up against that head any time!

2 Huh?
I've heard of more than a dozen wounded by Mechanicals!
Hope the Hell He finds his Buck!

Not up lambs canyon? I saw that post. North part of Salt Lake County is the area. Thanks guys!

Last two deer I killed were with Montecs, 100 and 125 grain. I've killed others with Satellite, Muzzy, Rocky Mountain, one random broadhead I pulled off an arrow I found while hiking around and killed with the same day...we can argue which head is better all ####### day long if you want, fact is you hit em vitally with any broadhead and the sumbitch is hitting the dirt in a hurry!!

Good luck! I feel your pain.

Remember STTM, I don't need a reason to come unglued!! :D

I'm just sick of hearing people say a broadhead sucks because their friends are $hitty shots!!

I know ~Z~ I know!

I'll start that off right now!
There shouldn't be 1 f'n doe hunt anywhere in the entire state!

Agreed, and I don't mean to highjack this thread but no Doe hunts!, Not sure why your Fish and Game there would have Doe hunts in the first place. If they are over objective then dart a few and transfer them to areas that are hurting. If your state gets to the point of some of the mid east states that are being run over by deer, then I can see Doe hunts but I know my State here in Az. Doesn?t have them running around like that and WE don't have Doe hunts.

Wow cant agree more that shooting preganant animals is a joke. Sounds like a bad shot to me everybody blames the reaper they if it failed you should have noticed it when ya took it out of the package I would think. ive got two defected ones out of the many ive purchased sounds like bad shot placement or a little too much distance. but sometimes the deer get that adreniline shot when ya hit em in the rut. Not accusing you but if your one of these guys that constantly wounds animals on the front I hope your not shooting a shure loc. I know an a-hole that wounds two or three a year with no remorse who sometimes wont even look for his arrows and he needs a fixed pin sight badly.

Its too expensive to transport deer from one are to another.

I think if they opened it up to the Dedicated Hunters as part of their financial and service obligations, they would see a big turn out of diesels and horse trailers at the ready.

It was a big bodied 2 point. (this is my signature)

Unlike many areas of this state, the Wasatch is not hurting for does. I already killed a buck on the front this year, so I don't have a dog in this fight. Anybody that questions if the front can handle a doe hunt, clearly doesn't hunt it. I'm sure to get blasted for this, but it just goes to show, with archery you get the best of both worlds. Lots of hunting, AND lots of deer.

I don't think there should ever be a doe hunt in Utah at this point or the forseeable future. There might be areas with a lot of does but there are many more areas with very few.

What sense does that make? If there was a pond with lots of fish, and a pond with only a few. Would you not fish the pond with lots of fish because the other doesnt have many? The DNR just needs to manage the areas differently. Easy to understand. If there was a way to transport the does effectivly I would support that, but the DNR has said it is not a feasable thing to do with mule deer. I don't know if I buy that or not but thats the rumor.

Sorry to hijack, hope you find your buck.

Broadfork your arguing a battle you cant win. these guys dont see reason just personal gain. I was doing a dedicated hunter project this year, and there was several typical deer hunters complaining about the deer hunting here in Utah. I listened in and they complained about the same issues, cougars, doe hunting etc. The one that really made me laugh was the guy who was saying shut down all deer hunting for 3 years in every unit. The deer herds are so bad we have to shut down hunting for 3 years he said!! 10 minutes later he was reminiscing about the good ole days when the muzzy hunt was in the rut. He was actually saying that he wished they would open a general season muzzleloader hunt during the rut again. you see these guys are all about interfering with other people to benifit themselves. The worst part is all the people who were agreeing with him!

I plan to whack n stack me big ole doe this Saturday. Right in Bessy's back yard. Might even stroll into Altamont for lunch after the kill....Either that or Pinwilly's.

sneakattack. you go in to pinwilllys braging about shooting does.i dont think i would eat lunch at his place.... [bess knows the cook..

Last thing I need is a two toed, flee bitten, mange havin', neutered ferrel house cat messin' with my lunch. I'll hit Cowans instead.
