Here's an Arizona buck taken by my brother this year. We rough scored it at 181. Everyone says it's way bigger. The problem is it has no brow tines so we lost about 4 to 6 inches there and the extra width measurement above the brow tines...another 9 inches. With brow tines we would have scored it in the low 190's. ????? Did we score it right guys??

I killed a 180 buck this year and this buck looks quite a bit bigger. Either way he's a damn fine buck! Congrats to your brother.

Better re-check your score. still get mass 4 mass measurements and you only get the inside spread credit
curtis wilson
monarch mountain taxidermy

Yep, you still get 4 mass measurements per side no matter if the buck has browtines or not. That buck has to score better than 181...I've got a 182 on the wall and that buck definitely looks bigger. Congrats to the hunter!

You guys sure he still gets four mass measurments pure side? I thought if you didn't have brow tines you lose the bottom mass measurement because your suppose to measure between the base and the g1? Awesome buck either way congrats

LAST EDITED ON Nov-30-11 AT 09:31PM (MST)[p]it doesnt matter if you have brow tines it is just the smallest circumerence spot on the four measuring areas.

Great buck! I killed a 180 buck on the book cliffs this year and your buck looks alot bigger.

Not sure about the rules for measuring but I would assume you should still get 4 mass measurements.

Either way, congrats on a dandy buck.

Great buck! You're basically only loosing the inches of the g1's. Maybe 4-6 inches? You always get four mass measurements.

That Buck has great main beams and fronts has to be bigger that 181.Regardless great buck was it shot on the late hunt?

That is a great buck! I think that your measurements are a bit off or taken from the wrong places. Look it up on line and follow that and I think that you will but pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Reguardless of the score, that is a great buck with some remarkable character as well. Congratulations on your accomplishment.

yes ...late hunt.
Thanks for everyone's help. With 2 more measurements he'll gross 190. He has a huge 5th on one side that the other doesn't have....but I agree it's a great buck regardless of the score. It took about 1/2 second for me to tell my brother he was a shooter.) He must have agreed....he shot it !!

great Buck, He is the type of buck everyone would love to shoot.

I agree that you're too low. I get a 190 or so gross on that deer just running it through the calculator with 24" beams, 20" inside spread, 12" G4, 8 & 12" G3, 17" G2, and that 9 inch inline.

You still get 8 mass measurements without brow tines, it's just that H1=H2 so I gave him 35" of mass.

From a B&C score sheet instructioins, back page, section H:

"If brow point is missing, take H-1 and
H-2 at smallest place between burr and G-2."

I'm not right on the score for sure, but he's WAY better than 181.

Gross score of course.

Great job guys.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-01-11 AT 09:15AM (MST)[p]Yes very nice buck for sure. Like a few others said that is better than a 180 buck. Not that it matters, its a stud. But just so you know go to www.boone-crockett.org . Click on score your trophy and the instuctions will come up. Print it off and you have a record to file away for yourself. It's fun to do in the off season and you learn how to score a animal. Have fun !

You always get 4 mass measurements a side whether the buck has G1's or not.... That's a 190 buck!!!

Thats a SB'n 220 buck if its an inch, just ask Orestimba .
(great deer man. Looks about what you scored it to be)

Iv?e chatted back and forth with the hunter and he fessed up a few more pictures and gave me permission to post them. Im sure he has a story to go along with them, maybe I can twist his arm a little here and get him to post it up? Congratulations Rob, your buck is a stud!

LAST EDITED ON Dec-02-11 AT 05:27PM (MST)[p]stud buck. well over 190.

We were heading up to the kaibab the saturday after thanksgiving when a dodge truck turned out in fron of us. I'm almost certain this was the buck on the tailgate. If it's the same buck, he's well over 190. Oh and sorry for tailgating you!

Someone mentioned entering this buck in the big buck contest.....how do you do it??
