Alright all you score jockeys, guess the score on this buck. My estimate was off quite a bit even with my hands on him. Had to measure him 3 times to confirm. His outside spread is 31.5 inches.

I'll tell the winner which state I shot him in...

i would say roughly 187 none the less its a stud. he just has weak main beams who knows though great buck would shoot him in an instant. congrats...

LAST EDITED ON Dec-06-11 AT 05:12PM (MST)[p]Dangit, BBB that's what I was going to guess! Actually I'm having second thoughts now that I notice his mains are probably less than his inside spread. So I'll back it off to 190".

240".... maybe 250" what a spectacular represenative of the species, my hell.

178 3/8 Really cool buck but can't be from colorado since the tag is on the antlers rather than the carcass.....LOL!

LAST EDITED ON Dec-06-11 AT 08:47PM (MST)[p]i think he's in the 185-190 range. i'll say 188 1/2 gross

LAST EDITED ON Dec-07-11 AT 06:32AM (MST)[p]179 7/8. Fronts are short and have no fork depth. That is going to kill the score on this buck.

Heck of a buck though. I for sure would not have passed him up, short fronts or not!

High 170ish main frame, average mass, great kickers and trash, about an extra 10 inches or so - 182. ish.

I would say 194"-197". He doesn't look like he has that short of mainbeams.. I would guess 23-24 at least. Really big backs... 18-19 inch G2's easy.. 11-12 inch G3's and extras. Really nice buck, regardless of the score I would not hesitate to shoot him on any hunt! Great buck!

He's got the backs of a 210" buck... The fronts of a 170" buck... I'll say he will go 190" before his sticker points... so...

196 6/8"

...AND THE WINNER IS TRAIL!

There were a couple 188" posts but Trail over achieved by guessing the state also. I'm impressed a lot of you guys were all over the score. I had him pegged for high 170's, I just couldn't see him going in the 180's with those fronts.

The buck grosses 187 7/8. He has ~19" G2's, 38" of mass, and ~15" of trash. His fronts are defintley weak with 19" MB's.

I shot him in Colorado. It was my first hunt in Colorado so my anticipation was sky high as I left Idaho. I had 9 days to scout/hunt for a big buck. As most of us know that anticipation quickly faded. Big bucks are hard to turn up in any state or unit with sunny skies and warm weather. I spotted this buck in the evening of day 7 (day 6 of the season) which was probably the last day of my hunt as I was tired, sore and beat down mentally. I glassed this buck from a distance and knew he had big backs and a few stickers. By the time I got over there he had moved. The hillside was covered in thick thick oakbrush but after a few seconds I saw his white face staring at me about 150 yrds away. It was a showdown from that point. He knew he was in trouble and I knew I was in trouble. We both stared at each other for a really long time until a doe stepped in front of him. He lost focus and took a few steps forward giving me a clear shot.

It was an awesome experience and challenge to go to an new area solo and get a buck like this. I'll be back.

Thanks for the compliments.

Really good buck and great story. Just goes to show that you can get lucky if you just stick it out! The memory of that adventure will help the winter pass!
