I contributed to his Public Land Mulies book but lost track of him once he left Eastman's.
Maybe someone knows where's he at now? Phone number or email address would be great.

PM me or email me at [email protected]

I've lost his contact info but he is in CO now. Maybe a PM to Buckspy would connect you.

My guess why he left was probably because of the eastmans!! Being around them for more than five mins would be all I could take! Soooo much arrogance and cockyness... They are good hunters.. just ask em and they will tell ya how good. I cancelled my subscription because of them and they have a great mag!

he left cause when they should him hunting coloardo people started figuring out where he was hunting and he didnt want people to know where his spots were.

so thats i what i have heard from a close freind of his

LAST EDITED ON Dec-20-11 AT 02:44PM (MST)[p]Hmmm, it wasn't too hard to figure out when they showed one of the most photographed peaks in CO. I am way too greedy and secretive when it comes to my hunting areas to show that on TV or in a magazine. Shoot, half my hunting buddies don't know what units I hunt.

They did that to Cam Hanes too!

Why don't Nate Simmons, David Long, and Cameron Hanes just make their own show? Better yet, why don't just do some episodes with Randy from OYOA? He has all the camera stuff and they those guys can get er done......

He has to be tired of doing all the shows himself. I could watch high-country archery hunting for mule deer every night.

Deepforks, how about you? are you being judgmental as well?

I think we all get a bit that way at times...

It's ironic that all of what I call "the good guys" have left Eastmans. Last night Eastmans aired what I believe was the last high country Colorado mulie hunt David Long did before he left them and he mentioned his cameraman wasn't Nate because he was off doing his own thing. The hunts David did in Colorado probably did show enough long shots of the area that someone who taped the shows could figure out pretty close to where he was hunting. However, I would think he would have known that was the case as he surely looked at the film and probably went with the edited final copy of what was aired. If he didn't want that to occur, maybe he should have stayed with just doing his own photos and filming for another book, magazine articles, etc. This is all conjecture on my part, just as everyone's thoughts on this that don't really know why he left. My guess is that maybe because he has always felt that Colorado offers his best chance at big bucks that he wanted to move back down there to pursue them with more scouting and time out in the outdoors. He probably didn't have that flexibility working for Eastmans, especially when he took over as Editor of the EBH magazine, unless he was just there as a figurehead to get them more readership because of his name. IMHO he is the real deal when he quickly changed to a bow several years ago and immediately started taking the same quality of animals at close range that he had been doing with a rifle at 300+ yards.

I'm recovering from shoulder surgery and just watched that episode...for the 8th time. It's good.

Simmons moved on too?

I wish I had nothing better to do than to get on a hunting forum and tell someone they have nothing better to do than get on a hunting forum and tell someone they have nothing better to do than get on.......................well you get my drift.....

Hey, when the kidos are sleeping on a Tuesday night at 9 and the wife is curled up reading a book by the fire, I can't think of anything better than to watch an archery spot and stalk mule deer hunt.

David Long sent this picture to me before it ever hit the mag and video and asked that I not post it till after if I wanted to then. I never did but I still keep it in my computer as a background at times.

Does anyone remember some footage of a monster buck fight that I think he filmed??? I've done a little searching for it but no luck

I don't remember a monster buck fight, but I have his 3 DVDs and the DVD that came with his book and I'll see if it's on one of them. Now I see that Ryan Hatfield has also left Eastmans and is the editor of a new elk hunting magazine that is coming out soon. That means that Eastmans has lost all four of what I think were their best people. It will be interesting to see what develops as far as their magazines and TV show goes over the next year or so with the loss of all those good people.

I just got that magazine today. Good read so far. I didn't subscribe to it. Did anybody else get it...and not subscribe?

What that means is more shows with Mike shooting Antelope with his rifle and less shows with Nate and David Bowhunting. Lame.

What's the name of the Elk Hunting Mag or is that the title??

Never heard of it.

I personally think its a good thing. Maybe now he will go back to where he was before joining those sellouts...

Funny thing about this is myself, my father, and good hunting buddies had been hunting the basins david hunts many years before he even found it. If anyone should be fed up about it It should be us locals who had been hunting that area for a good number of years and here comes an out of state hunter who brings it to the public eye through video and magazine articles, and now theres 5 plus camps in there each and every year the opening weekend of archery season. The place still holds some good deer and one of my favorite elk areas but I've since moved on. Killed my first elk and deer with a bow in there back when I was 13 years old.
