well my worst fears happened this year, drawing 2 GREAT tags in the same year. i was fortunate to draw my ONCE IN A LIFETIME desert sheep in UT and harvsted a good ram
http://www.monstermuleys.info/dcforum/DCForumID8/4769.html
the second tag was a late tag in NV. i actually had the crazy thought to turn my sheep tag back because i had 1 less than max and knew i could draw again within a few years. i have plenty of vacation where i work but was worried about having to scout for both hunts....after more than one person questioned my sanity i decided to keep them both.....i ended up scouting 12 full days for my sheep with another 5 just 1/2 days, this left me with one trip (2days) over to look at my deer area. my brother and i arrived to no snow and shirt sleeve weather, no quite my dream late hunt....
1st morning right off the bat we spotted a good buck, just not great 25-26 4x3, the rest of the morning we spotted 10 more bucks, a couple 24 or so, we also found a big doe herd in a area that was kind of isloated. finding this herd was the key to my brother killing this buck on day 5

the next 2 days we looked in a couple areas that were suggested by a fellow member of MM. we glassed up one buck that was a definate shooter after we hiked in about a mile, but did not have the time to get the mile plus over to him by dark. we spent the next day learning how to get into his basin but never found him again. i punched my tag on this buck in one of the side canyons on the hike in to find the buck from night 2. it was a LONG night. we got to him after dark, we caped and cut him up and got back to the truck about 11 and back to camp after midnite.

to be honest my ram was MORE than i could have expected for the unit....DEER???
no regrets, just wish i had more time to scout

Nice!

But You're done for a while!:D

Hot Dog,Hot Damn,I love this Ameri-can

Hey Jim, about time you share the pics. j/k
Those are some nice looking bucks.I'm glad it worked out for you.

Congrats, you had a great year! The pic with the buck in the rhino really puts it into perspective on how big it really is!

well tikka, i think my luck was burned up last year....if you can call 16 sheep points and 12 for the deer...i have points built up in most of the west, so we will see...lol

Jim,

This is your buddy up in Idaho. All I can say is your a stud man!! Great bucks for you and your brother. I'll be looking foward to seeing more pic down the road from ya. By the way I was down around the Id/Ut State line today and man O man what a sad site. Think will ever get any snow this year?? Should be a good your for Cats next year with hardly any getting killed this year. with 6 NR points maybe i'll stand a chance and draw in 12....

Those are some nice bucks. Congra.ts.. they are a lo.t of work but they are worth it

Very interested in Hunting Nevada, but early archery and tips or advice on areas would be great!

Love the rack on both of those bucks, your brothers buck is very TALL!

Hey Treeman,
Good on you partner! Nice bucks.
When it rains out west, sometimes it dumps buckets...or tags.
I am like you with built up points. My son and I were fortunate to have three great hunts this year, but you have to take them when they come. You definitely made the right choice keeping the sheep tag.
Congratulations

First off thats awsome you got to share the experience with your bro
second i dont want to be a prick caus i dont know the off road vehicle use laws over there but im pretty sure vy yhe pictures there are no road around an you still manage drive to him. its things like this why the blm and forest service are closing off trails and roads that have been around longer then most employees because some outdoorsman and sportsman hav no respect for the laws and just do what they want.

like i said im not trying to be a prick or an as*hole because i dont know the nevada laws and i cant see everythhing in the picture but if you did break the rules thats bs and if you can hike in there and cant pack out an animal legally then maybe you should have had enough respect for the habitat and stayed on the roads instead of making a bad name for sportsman if your brother or yourself were handicapt then that would be a diff. story also

Big six.let me start by saying I told my brother (the big dummy) to not post those pics. You are on to us. I actually ran the deer over at a speed of 42 mph clipped a doe got pissed on by a damn two point licking his azz. Y make a stupid assumption on something that may not be in view .Did you not read the post on how we have been hunting on the previous days, come on man. I shot the deer up the hill from the road and it was a fairly easy rolled out job. I say roll because it was appx. 85 degree straight up. There u happy. U want gps coords.

Well thats why i said i cant see everything in the picture and i dont know the laws in nevada like i said i wasnt trying to be a prick about it i was just asking a question no need to get all pissy like a women bleeding out there were no assumptions made just wanted to know the answer to what it looked like im sure i wasnt the only one that thought it looked like you were offroading

85 degree slope.....not quite, kinda felt that way i guess LOL. this post/pics was put on this site at the request of a fellow MM member, Paul Downs aka sandsavage here on MM to see some better pics and read the story. for those who do not know him was killed a few weeks ago in a fourwheeler accident doing what he loved, chasing cats with hounds. I was kinda happy to have gotten that buck out whole and in the back of that rhino after taking mine out in pieces. so if pulling my rhino into the sage to get turned around and taking a pic of my brother smiling because he finally shot a better buck than me in less than ideal conditions is wrong, slap on the cuffs and haul me to jail...lol...BTW big6 after reading your post a couple times it is clear you really did not mean to come across as a prick.

I don't won't to sound like a prick but you come across as a early 20's year old (know it all), thats done more shed hunting than actual hunting. But is more than willing to give an opinion on something that he has no clue about. Step out from behind the computer and going hunting and stop worring about other people. Hope I didn't come across as a prick or an a$$hole.

sorry to hear about your buddy its always a hard pill to swallow when you lose a good friend and hunting buddy and sorry for coming across as a prick.

if you even knew me you never would have sai that i do more shed hunting then hunting. i do like to ride out and go look for sheds but thats for maybe a total of 10 or 12 hours a year. this year i guided/ assisted on 7 hunts plus my own put over 7000 miles on my truck and wore out 2 set of boots trust me i know how to hunt a whole hell of alot better then shed hunt BUT I DONT KNOW IT ALL AND I WILL NEVER CLAIM TO and yes i knew that post if you read through it fast i figured it would come across that way when i didnt mean it to and no you didnt come across as a prick but now you know that im not stuck behind a computer and i will come out from behind it and have a drink and talk about whatever when called out.
As for th reason i even posted that i am just sick of going into the hills and just finding roads all over our hunting grounds because one guy rides in to get his animal out and then the next guy comes along sees the tracks and follows them thn th next and so on then your hunting area is no good so like i said treedagain sorry for acting like a prick im glad after you read it a few times you didnt feel that way but still i could have phrased it better

Jim,
Way to take the high road buddy! It's still takes me back when think of Paul. I sure am going to miss him coming into my bait site with his dogs and having a little bit of a throw down then later that day sitting at camp and laughing and joking over it. He sure was a good guy and willing to help anyone. Sure am going to miss him. Once again nice bucks to you and your brother. I am hoping to draw that tag soon. Once I do I will for sure be calling.

Thanks Jim. You know I will. Also looks like I might be moving back to Utah for work so drawing that elk tag might happen sooner then I think!

that elk hunt will be a good one for ya....same thing draw that tag, i am looking for a excuse to go back to that mtn.
