LAST EDITED ON Dec-25-11 AT 08:10AM (MST)[p]I'm 29 now and have 10 bow bucks under my belt but here's my first 4 bucks, and first 3 with a bow.

Age 13, first deer and only one I've ever killed with a rifle. Shot this deer the last 10 minutes of light on the last day. I had a hell of a time finding anything in the scope that year and could have killed bigger but just could never find them in the scope before they ran off. 2x3

Age 14, the day I become addicted to velvet and killing muley bucks with a bow!! 2x2

Age 15, 2nd muley buck with a bow...3x3

Age 16, still my favorite and most memorable muley buck I've ever killed, I sealed the deal all by myself without any help from Dad...3x3

thats quite an accomplishment to have killed, consistently killed nevertheless , deer with a bow at such a young age. If you're talking about a person and their ability in regards to hunting, I'll take the guy that kills year in year out over the guy that happened to bumble ##### onto a giant once or even twice in his life. Both are lucky, but the year in year out guy...he's the hunter.
Merry Christmas.

Thanks Son!! I have intentions of catching you someday in regards to size of bucks killed, I need to head down there and hunt with you in the near future so you can show me how it's done on GIANTS!! :D

Blacktails or Muleys? :)

Is it the last 4 that count?

Or, all the great hunts along the way?

Sage, they've all been equally fun and rewarding except for the only buck I shot with sights on my bow. Here he is at #9, 153" 4x5 plus eyeguards (double eyeguards on the inline 5 side)...my least favorite bow buck because I used sights...

This is my least favorite buck I shot because I used a scope on my rifle. I have since thrown the scope away.

Overton, Chester Ca. buck huh?

N_C, Me thinks you need to use sight more often! :)

Yep a Chester buck. We both know it's just average for that area. Too bad the tards have killed off their whole gene pool.

LMAO!! Plick!! :) I thought you weren't posting any pics because you didn't have any sights!!

I get what you're saying though. I'm sure everyone is different but looking back on it all, for me, killing deer instinctively with a bow is the most rewarding thing I've ever done. Summer after summer after summer after summer I spent shooting my bow in Dad's backyard growing up...that time spent is why it's so rewarding I guess.

~Z~

Yeah, thought so! I could'a got a couple maybe bigger but i'da had to use my sights! :)

Joey

LOL Z I might as well throw the sights away because I'd prolly do better. Ask all the know it alls in campfire.
Anyway when I was younger I also shot my recurve without sights and those were some of the best hunts ever.

LMAO that pic is classic!! I thought he was mad because he was walking around the desert in flipflops :) Thanks for clearing that up lol!!

Rans. In 2005 I met a guy from Alabama in JoBurg South Africa. He was from Alabama he had a film crew of 2 guys with him and had been a surgeon until forced to retire at 42. He was 78 at this time had

Darn tremors no wonder I can't hit anything. Seriously, Oops family Christmas is getting wild. Anyhow the guy had killed virtually every animal possible with a spear. DIDN't USE SITES! He had a web-site but has since passed on. He used aluminum shafts that screwed together to the shaft and thrust into the animal from a blind. He had a cool web-site that is now gone.

That's the ultimate no site on a weapon. The funny thing he was held up by the authorities for trying to get a dangerous weapon into the country while with paperwork my .375 and 300 were no problem. Yep! family Christmas is starting to get to me sorry to get off base on this post my apology.

I bow hunt and I always use sights, there's no pride in wounding and animal and losing it forever because you're proud of killing something without sights. JMO
Just watch some of the horrific shots that Tred Barta makes without sights on his traditional gear. Makes every bow hunter cringe watching some of his poor inaccurate shot selections and he shows it on TV - Yikes

Yeah they are on the wrong feet and if you'll notice, somebody wasn't watching him while he was holding the red magic marker. (look at his legs) Mom was not pleased.

Son

Kilo snail mailed me a stone tablet with pics of his first four bucks with his spear(no sights of course) but it won't fit on my scanner so I will be sending it along to the next MMer to enjoy and then send on. By the time Kilo gets it back he will have forgotten wtf it is so send a note withit please.

Bill

Kill the buck that makes YOU happy!

Killerbee, kbkilla, kb-douchebag, with your extensive hunting research (watching tv), can you give me an idea what the order is as far as which hunters wound more big game animals, ?? I'm also curious if you've ever had any, real life, experience based knowledge in ANY of the discussions we've, or any others on here, have ever had?? Maybe just not this one?? I always look forward to your responses, it's fun to watch your mind self destruct on the internet :)

Seriously, any buck with a bow is a trophy. It's funny when you look at old pics how the memory jumps right back in you head like it was yesterday.

Good deal never_catch! I remember shooting my longbow at about the age of 15. Then I got one of them new modern recurves. They were state of the art. Blacktails could still jump the string though. Damn it!:)

10 archery bucks at age 29 is quite an accomplishment. A guy with your good genes should have more kids.:)

"A guy with your good genes should have more kids."

Eel, Yer killen me here!! ROTFLMAO!

N_C, I truly am jealous! Only one buck fell to my sightless recurve but i shot so many arrows at bucks in range, or that i thought were in range, i finally gave it up as a bad cause.

I mean, he could be right there! By the time my arrow got to where he was, he could already be on the neighbors property! :)

RE: My first 4 bucks in order.....

Eel, well played Sir, well played!! lol!!

Sage, I've had my fair share of bucks jumping my string over the years bud...it definitely happens!! I've never hit one bad in that situation though, always have been clean misses. There's nothing more frustrating than doing everything right and not getting the kill because the stupid (smart) deer jumped the string...all a guy can do is laugh it off when it happens lol!!

I don't know who this other KillerBee you are referring to is, I put down a name and didn't realize someone else may have had it. Look at my profile and you will see I have nothing to hide, My name and state is on there.
My opinion is just that, if you can't handle the fact that shooting without sights gives people a bigger odd of wounding animals then why post this #####?? You know you'll get tooled for it by everyone!!
Just so you know, I've been hunting for over ten years and I have taken deer up to 185 Inches all with a compound bow. Just stating a fact about Bow optics BRO.

If you're not Killerbee then I'm sorry to imform you but you chose the worst possible MM name you possibly could have...if you're not him, I'd highly recommend getting a new name on here because NOBODY who's been here long will take anything you say seriously and you'll continuously get bashed for appearing to be someone else...the biggest douchebag MM has ever had!!

As far as sights vs no sights, we can argue that another day because I've been awake for about 24 hours and I'm hitting the sack...but I'll look forward to that conversation because it's always fun to hear others opinions who admit to having no knowledge of my way, just theirs. I have both and prefer mine for a lot of reasons :) Good job on your 185 buck though, they aren't easy to get with a bow regardless if you have sights or not. If you don't mind post a pic, I'm sure others want to see more dead critters too :)

This statement is the biggest crock of chit I've ever read by the way, we'll get into why further but you couldn't even begin to prove this statement if you tried...when an instinctive bow hunter messes up they usually flat out MISS deer, when a bow hunter with sights messes up the error is usually minimal resulting in a WOUND!! Don't believe me?? Try picking up a bow without sights and shoot it for a few months, you'll change your mind!!

RE: My first 4 bucks in order.....

Plus it seems when you think they'll jump it, they don't... and so you don't hold low on the next and well you know what happens then!

Nice kills btw gotta love that silent arrowflight knocking one over!

I don't know how to change the login name as there are no options that I can see for this. I don't want to start a new profile just because some Douche with the same name is acting stupid on here.

Z~Man this is my biggest Buck to date from Colorado using Archery gear. Anyway you want to look at it, with or without sights, it's a damn great accomplishment to harvest a Buck of any caliber with a Bow. Hope the Pics come out.

Hell yea, good lookin buck!! I like how they look right before they ditch the velvet...once they do I think they're fugly though. Western or eastern plains Colorado??

~Z~

Western Colorado at about 10,000 feet elevation. Long hikes, took all season but it paid off well. Just like everybody else, can't wait for next season.
