Here is a list of MY reasons of the decline of Mule Deer.

Not in any paticular order please feel free to add yours to the list.

1- Interenet scouting IE Monster Muleys or any other hunting forum.

2- Optics spotting scopes, binoculars, long range scopes

3- Inline muzzleloaders, when I first started hunting with a muzz. I had a Lymon Great Plains and my range was under 70 yds. now even with a 1x power scope I am confident at 200 yds.

4- Cheat Grass and other evasive non-native plants

5- New archery equiptment again when I started bow hunting 50 yds. was a WAY LONG shot nowa days people are shooting 80 yds. plus with the new bows.

5- Shed Horn hunting starting in Jan.

6- Late season cow tags on the winter ranges.

7- The lack of 1080 on predators.

8- Over selling of deer tags when our heards have been down.

9- This one I feel is HUGE, lack of deer fences on highways in critical migration routes.

10- Not letting mother nature run her course on NON-HUMAN started forest fires.

11- This one I also think is VERY CRITICAL HUMAN DEVELOPEMENT ON CRITICAL WINTER GROUNDS. This is state wide, but last year in Bountiful the DWR just shot deer that were problems in subdivisions. The deer had nowhere to go but the people who built homes their didn't want their shrubs eaten.

12- Mother Nature, ups and downs, droughts, severe cold temps after heavy snow storms, hard for deer to break through hard crusted snow for food.

This post is not intended to provoke anyone or their way of hunting Archery vs. Rifle or Muzz. I use them all, I am guilty of all the new and improved hunting styles.

Please add to the list of your thoughts of the decline of Mule Deer.
