hunting in Craig Colorado

I am thinking about hunting in Craig Colorado this year. I want to get some more information before I decide. I am interested and the quality and quantity of deer. I would also like to know when they normally go into the rut. If anybody has any experiences of hunting the area, please respond.

Trophies are there but more known for numbers forth season is rut time can be crowded though .

My son and I hunted on a private ranch(trespass fee) about 10 miles NW of Craig last Oct--2ed season. Lots of does but very few bucks and they were small ones.
Locals told us that the winter of '08 took it's toll and I believe it. I would look elsewhere if I were going back this year.
Craig is a nice friendly town and we enjoyed our stay there.

Lot's of private land and the Buck's know where it is. Some BLM but you need a good map And good luck competeing with the Non Res hunter's.

I have family there, and stomped alot of ground in Craig. Your best bet would be 3rd season. Muley numbers are great there right now!
