Utah deer

15 to 20 years. Without wolves! With continuous habitat improvements, no doe shoots, highway crossing and fencing improvements, and heavy predator control. Nothing in the short term. JMHO
 
Took 40 years to decimate it!

Especially with the rifle mentality this state has with sfw. You issue 15000 rifle tags and 60000 bow tags and you will see the quality of the bucks go up but you wont increase the deer till you wipe out the predators

id say the new boundaries is not enough to help. we need more improvements. if we could get the deer increasing it wouldnt take long but not enough is being done.

its going to make some units turns into LE!(HARD TO DRAW).

So with so many non-resident and resident tags in Utah going to auction and giving millions of dollars to conservation groups, how is it possible that there is not being enough done to improve the habitat etc of Utah. No other states provides the resources to these groups like Utah. It makes no sense to me, I mean you are telling me Colorado, arizona, wyoming, etc Mule deer hunting is better than Utahs. It just came to me? Maybe the auctioning off of so many public tags in facts doesn't work for its intended purpose?
 
If you're talking deer (buck) quality and not deer herd health (quantity), my guess would be an improvement in the next 3-5 years IF the F&G really try to meet the buck/doe ratios.

If the B/D ratios are ignored then we'll have the same stagnant quality and simply be confined to smaller hunting units.

Time will tell....

birddog thats the problem we dont know where the money is going after the conservation groups get it. hint all the negativity on sfw
 
Let's assume there never was any money from the expo, auctions etc. Where would that money go? NOWHERE!

Let's assume all the tags were put back into the regular drawing. What whould that do for the regular hunter's draw odds? NOTHING since we're generally talking a tag or two per unit.

If SFW didn't have any money (which WE have freely given them) then who would do anything? NOBODY.

Some folks just like to jump on the most populat bandwagon rather than looikng at the actual impact.

Everyone likes to bellyache I guess. That's why some on here like to disrespect others. I guess it makes them feel better about their circumstances.

Too many guys on here never hunted Utah in the 70-90s when a 2 point was scarce and many hunters were happy to kill a doe for some meat.
It's all about perspective and what is reasonable.
Everyone wants a giant buck (every year) but the reality is we will never have enough deer habitat in Utah to make that happen...ever!
Even if things get better (perspective) many will still complain.
 
zeke. do you and todd get paid for the bs you put out about sfw and the cwmus. nobody can say anything you two dont try to defend them. how much do you both make off them?

I just know how easy it is for the same jokers to pile on the old bandwagon.

It gets a little old when the same jokers just go ON AND ON and on and on and on and on and on about the evil empire and the same posters go out of their way to include SFW in every single discussion.

I could ask about your pink underware and someone would say "the damn SFW bought all the pink underware so we can't keep up with fashion"!

There are simply a bunch of guys who act like ex-girlfriends. Freak! Don't go to the expo, don't bid on a permit!

It is interesting that it only took 7 minutes for a "whining baby" to make a mindless accusation about Zeke and Todd (whoever that is?) I am guessing Zeke has given more in money and effort, in one year, to help build the cause of wildlife in Utah than "Mr. Whiney" will give in his lifetime. But somehow that is SFWs fault too!
As I said...it's all about perspective.
 
The new management units will have no noticeable positive effect on the deer herds. What it will do is show a slight increase in buck numbers and size. But total deer numbers will not increase under this management plan.
