I am thinking about applying for Wyoming area 125. Hoping to find a big rutting muley this november. Any advice on this area is appreciated. Thanks ;)

LAST EDITED ON Feb-06-12 AT 09:47AM (MST)[p]The unit is way overrated now thanks to Eastmans and Huntin Fool over a few years time until about 4 or 5 years ago. The unit doesn't hold that many deer and my friends in Worland are seeing fewer decent bucks to the point they're telling me if you see one around 150-160" to shoot him quick. That is really not a big mulie as mulies go where the big boys are still known to hang out. I was going to use my PPs next year or the year after for 125 and am now really rethinking what I want to do. If you will look back for recent threads on the unit you will see what I'm talking about and what one guy in particular had to settle for on his last day of hunting the exact area I had been planning on.

Thanks topgun I guess I will be hunting high again this year, I was planning on 102 until the 10-11 winter kill really hurt the deer. I was hoping for a desert hunt, is there a good one in wyoming right now? Good luck this season, Jake

I really wish I could help you, but I just don't know where to try for as far as shooting one really good mulie. I was also thinking about unit 53 up near Montana and scouted it up on the nw side toward the lake/river in September last year. It looked real good, but a guy on the Forums did the hunt right up in that area in late October and was very disappointed at the few deer he saw and no good bucks on the solo backpack hunt he did. I may end up taking a second guided hunt up high somewhere to try for one, but I much prefer to go DIY and hate to think about the money a guided hunt would cost.

The above reply is all over in all the forums, what the hell, am I missing something here?

Pulverizer---Would you please expand on your post as I'm stumped as to what you're talking about.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-09-12 AT 10:24AM (MST)[p]Gator---I thought maybe that was the deal when I went back on this thread this AM and noticed a couple posts above mine were deleted and figured that one was probably from friggin BUSHMEN, LOL!!! I didn't notice they were gone yesterday and thought pulverizer was talking about me!

I hunted 125 last year and would not waste my time/points. I shot a deer that was still in the velvet on 11/3/2011. I got the results back and it had CWD. Saw very few bucks and nothing good.
