Limp Ear all of a sudden

I've been watching a buck for some time now and within the last week or so, one of his ears appears to have gone limp. He doesn't seem to be able to get it up like the one on the other side. I realize this seems like a great opportunity to joke around about ear-viagra, but if you have any idea what could've cause this, I'm curious.

Right before they shed the ears drop down out of the way so they don't get snagged. Up on the antlers when they drop and also this allows the new growth to get the direct sunshine needed to promote proper velvet development. Its obvious this buck is only going to shed one antler this year,I would expect the new antler to be a huge nontypical since all the growth will occour on one side this year...

The bucks here are still fighting we had one take an antler in the side and die Monday night. I saw all the evidence of the fight in the fresh snow the next day. I've never seen this aggressive of behavior in Feb. but we really hadn't had winter till last week.

It was just some Nebraska pay back for a fight ealier in the season. You would think by now it would be a hurting thing to be fighting at all with those horns and the snow and all.

What dark side is that Gator? I'm right up here in MI and wonder what you are talking about. The guy is one weird duck, but he's out in the woods year around and has killed a bunch of big whitetails that have never been questioned, even after all the BS that went on with that monster WT.

When my son was 15, he had an archery mule deer tag and the first arrow he released whacked a big 3X4 buck right through the base of one ear. The old buck ran off with a little blood down his neck and one droopy ear. I suspect he spent the rest of his days looking like your buck.
Who knows what sometimes happens?

Other than injury, could it be genetic deformity or trait? I saw a three point buck with his left ear cocked like a dog's ear; and this gal is still roaming around (several years now) out east of Pioche in Area 23.

Had a buck here in carson city that was just a plain monster and he would charge people and him and another buck engaged in a fight for over 3-4 hours and he got speared but would have made it but fish and game said we will finish him. He was definitely the buck that ran all the others around but a 190 4 point had enough and now the big one is gone. He was around 250 gross non typical.
