Which general deer unit will now be the most difficult to draw in Utah? How many preference points do you think it will take?

LAST EDITED ON Feb-18-12 AT 02:38PM (MST)[p]So what there's no deer there anyway.
before they made it a LE unit it was'nt that great-we used to hunt it a bunch(my family is from down that way).
I hope the people that draw it post up some pictures.
It is beautiful though and the fishing at round lake is good.
We spent a lot of time there this past year looking for elk and
the deer were few and far between-no bucks very few does maybe 2-3 went back for cow elk with snow on the ground and no deer no tracks nada. Before they made it a LE unit there were many years it was listed in the proclamation with an asteric* by it saying NOT A TROPHY UNIT!!
Thats why when the dedicated hunter that posted here about the number of hunters that where going for that unit before the lifetimers and even picked was pretty funny. I coldnt beleive and still dont all the intrest that unit is getting.
You cant go by the numbers the fish and game posted (buck to doe) they are not even close.

all of the southern units!Beaver pang lake zion swdes pinevalley prob take 3 points to draw rifle and 1-2 points for archery

Damn Dr-D...you in a pissy mode at 1045 AM? on a Saturday...

How many years ago was it that your family hunted it as a OTC rifle general unit?

Before it became LE deer?

My math---via the many years it has been LE Buck----- says a---llllllllllonnnngggggg time ago.

Nothing challenging here just WTF you talkin' about from years ago memory?

Myself---I am sticking with my local ( 3 drive miles) WF unit and bowhunt thru November.

I see a few great bucks over there every year on the spike elk hunt. It is hard to pick a lonesome buck out in all that sage brush. I am bummed that they are just opening it up like that. I'm a lifetimer but wont be putting in there now.

pleasedeer
That was in the mid 70s when it was otc!!
like i said MY family hunted it for years and i got to hunt it my first couple of years then it went to LE.
But we spend a Hell of a lot of time there EVERY summer and elk hunt there quite a bit. and yes i am 53 years YOUNG and sure i am older than you!!
NOT in a bad MOODE just laughing at the people that think it's a great unit. There are some nice bucks in the capital reef area but they dont wander to far from it.My uncle killed one of the biggest deer from there it was called the lookout point buck and hung out above Bicknell, hunters chased that buck for years.
That was in the late 60s. so WTF just some threads from SOMEONE that knows the unit well and probably better than most.
AND i thought my post stated that we hunted it this past season(2011) that's not so LONG ago is it??
I hope this post has your approval- if not enlighten me WTF!!!
AND i know the front too - I have been with slc watershed for 31 years and still there, we have a cabin in millcreek (porters fork) also so if you need some info there too let me know. but with over 5,000 posts you have, you must be the MM know it all lol.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-19-12 AT 03:50AM (MST)[p]Calm down Dr. D

I think the question and title is Most difficult general deer unit to draw..... not best unit to draw.

Glad your family has had some harvest and hope you get many more. What ever unit you go for.

I must have over read that your family hunted the LE deer in 2011---.
