Okay, after some e-mailed pictures and a long conversation with 3 fellas out of the main office of Boone and Crockett we have a score. Being it came from the top even though everyone may score this buck different, I will have to accept it as the final say for this contest. This contest will count on the totals and the contest will move forward. I will never make a mistake of posting a buck like this again. I have pissed off a client,Pissed off our official score guy by going against his results, found some sort of flaw in the scoring system and wasted a lot of time. If I took 1 positive from this it would be: If I ever kill a spike by 32 I will know how to score it.LOL. So congratulations to our winner. If you feel you got screwed and if you are not happy, I'm sorry. Life sucks sometimes, but there are definitely more important things to worry about. Hopefully this created some type of entertainment in your boring stuck behind the computer life.

So final confirmation is that the spike by gets 4 mass on each side and 3 in the same spot on the spike side.

This weeks winner is wymoose.

Gross score is 100 3/8

Again I appreciate all those who tried to help and offered advice on this one. Thanks for those who play and enjoy it.

Thanks for all the time you spend and spent on this particular one Curtis, and don't get too bummed because of the way this turned out. There's always tomorrow---MIKE

Thanks for spending the time to put this together. Its fun for alot of people. A buck like this made it interesting and challenging because its not very often we measure a buck like this.

I think quite a few of us learned something new here with this contest. Thanks for doing these contests as it keeps me thinking and learning new things.

Well I know this one counts, but can we at least maybe get another drop score? Please? PLEASE!!

Ohhh I am so done now. (Only 22 inches off I think!)

Well Monarch!

I don't even play your games/contests!

But I think you should actually find more Weird Bucks to Score & let it be a Learning Lesson to all that didn't know how to score a Buck like that!

Is calling the Buck Weird gonna make somebody mad?

I know Me calling it a PISSCUTTER probably didn't help matters but PISSCUTTER only means 'Sub-Trophy'!

But with the Utah Deer Herd the way it is maybe I'm Wrong?

What I'd really like to see you have in a Contest is a 3 beemed Buck or Bull and one big enough to go in to the B&C Record Book, that ought to STIRR things up!

Let's STIRR it up again!:D:D:D

Thanks for your time you put into this. Don't worry about the pissy prople. I think alot of us learned something with this one. Now I know how to score my 6x1 elk!

First off, this is a sweet buck. I spent years and years flinging arrows at much smaller bucks, I even just missed a 1x0 that would have scored about 20 (yes even with 4 mass measurements). I can only hope some of the negative comments were from people getting a bit cranky from the delay in finalization on the score on an abnormal buck. If anybody is genuinely negative towards a hunter taking a buck like this than those people have the problem to deal with. Taking any animal is a trophy and I am happy for this hunter to indeed have such a great reminder of the hunt.

Secondly, the mount is awesome. I saw the deer at the Expo and thought it was cool then as I really liked the ?blood? on the antler.

Third, I did like including this deer in the scoring contest. Having a few deer like this mixed in is better than just guessing at 13 different 160 to 190 inch 4-points.

Lastly, thanks for putting on this contest. It has been fun and I also hope it has drawn attention towards your great taxidermy work as a way to compensate you for your efforts. I sincerely hope you do not decide against doing another contest in the future solely based on the experiences with this week?s deer.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-22-12 AT 09:46AM (MST)[p]I never got in the contest much last year but I am enjoying it this year. The deer have been harder to score and has been challenging.

With that being said, the mounts shown in the contests have looked awesome, this is a great way to have fun while showing off your talent. I have never taken any animals to you, but this contest has made me consider it as I think you produce a quality looking mount. Maybe sometime in the future you will recieve my business, or others, as a result of this contest.

I am glad this buck was part of the contest. It was a learning experience for alot of people. I've had many debates over this very topic. It is a huge misconception among hunters and even some official scorers that a deer can lose a mass measurement. Hopefully this helps dispel the myth.

Let's see, off an inch here, off another inch there, another over there, and 4 $#%^&'n mass measurements. YEP I missed by 21 inches. Curtis you are alright, thanks for your contest. Keep it up.....

I ain't doing worth crap but i'm still having fun!

Even knowing how to score that buck and doing it the right way, that don't help when a guy is off on beam length and inside spread...whatever, it just ain't my year that's for sure but i ain't a quittin! :)

Thanks Guys!!!

Joey

Hell I even scored him the right way and I was still off by a bunch. LOL

Monarch, I enjoyed talking to you at the expo, keep up the good work, and you have some amazing taxi work.
