Hey guys, I have enough PP's to be in the game for a Colorado unit 61 muledeer tag (archery). I've read good and bad things about this unit, too thick to bowhunt, didn't see many deer, etc....
I've also heard that there are deer in the unit that would get me what I'm looking for which is a good representitive of a mullie. Looking for a 150 or above, one with branched antler and a little mass.

If the unit is as thick as lots have said, How does one bowhunt it without being able to scout it? or would it be just not realistic to try? I don't have the funds to do a fully guided hunt so Diy is pretty much the type of hunt I'll do'
I will bivy in if needed.

Thanks in advance for your comments. Nocwalker (from Pa.)

i have scouted and hunted the area from top to bottom.there is all kinds of areas to bowhunt deer. a great deal of the oak brush can be hunted with a bow. i found most of the deer just inside of the aspen patch oak brush zones.you won,t see a lot of deer, but there are some nice bucks in that country.i saw one non typical that would score over 200".if you are a spot and stalk hunter, the north end is more open to that kind of hunting.theres water everywhere, so look for a lot of tracks to find the most used holes.good luck

people hunt 61 to get 180+ deer. you should be able to find a 150" buck. Here is a bowkill buck from there- goes about 182 gross. with those extras

Thanks guys for the input!
Elkmeat, Thanks, You asked if I was a spot and stalk hunter-Heck I don't know. If I could spot one, I'll go after him. We do almost all of our hunting in Pa from tree stands.

Wildwilderness - Awesome buck and great looking country, Thanks
