Well apparently I'm not. We all know how difficult it can be to find a big buck during hunting season and if you do find him you'll probably only get one chance.

Here are a few bucks that I've missed that I have pictures of. There are others. If only I was clutch. LETS KEEP THIS THREAD GOING, I'D LOVE TO SEE PICS/STORIES OF BIG BUCKS YOU'VE MISSED.

Sept 5, 2007- Archery. Spotted this buck as he lies in the pic about 3/4 mile away. Closed with 200 yrds above him and took off my shoes. The terrain was such that I couldn't go straight down but needed to loop around and come in at an angle. To make a long story short, during the stalk the buck stood up and started feeding...towards my shoes. By the time I got to where the buck was bedded I looked up and saw him standing ~5 yrds from my shoes. I still snuck within bow range and let it fly sending an arrow over his back. This was a great buck with nice inlines on his back forks.

Sept 15, 2008- Rifle. The pic was taken in August but I found this tall deep forked buck again on Sept 15th and watched him bed in a patch of trees with 3 other bucks. Closed to within 350 yards and set up. Long story short, he wasn't in the patch I was watching and eventually busted me. I missed a 350 yard broadside shot.

Sept 3, 2011- Archery. Not normally a buck I would shoot but with a bow and not seeing many nice bucks last year I decided to make a stalk. Perfectly executed stalk, disaster of a shot missing high over the back.

The buck in the first pic is a giant! I don't have any stories like that because I don't miss;)

Here's one for you. Archery hunt 2010, this buck and his little brother went into the brush. They switched positions and I drew back and shot his little brother thinking it was him. When he ran out the other side I was sick.

Later

Watched this buck for over an hour before i decided to give it a try. I didnt think i could get a close enough for a clear shot without being heard. When i finally got to where i could get a shot at the buck i tried to range him. It wouldnt work. I guessed him 30 yards. I dont know what i was thinking! The arrow cliped hair on his back. After stepping it of it was 17 yards!!!

Dang Brandon, that's rough. What a great buck to take with a bow.

We need to catch up sometime and talk about plans for 2012.

Take care buddy

Don't have pics but a 180 4 point I hunted 5 long days in august to kill a big buck and then in rifle season I stalked within bow range of the 180 buck and missed him and he was in bow range. I knew I should have brought my bow on that hunt! Planning on going to go kill him this august with my bow because I know he made it through season so hope I pick him up in july so I can pattern him.

I've only missed 1 deer so far out of a lot of shooting, it just happened to be a head up rear moment and my bottom cam hit the rail of my climber when I released. Arrow went about 15yds and took a nosedive. I didn't see that deer but once after that and it was in mid Feb.
