Navajo Nation Mule deer

I have sat on a house boat on Lake Powell looking at Navajo Mtn and wondered if it was anything like the Henry's in terms of Mule deer quality.

Can anyone tell me about Mule deer hunting in the Navajo Nation region? Costs? Quality? Accessibility?

I know nothing about it.

I'm new to the forum, I do hunt the Navajo, we have some good regions for hunting, you would have to apply for the tags which will be available in May...there is a Sportsman show and Banquet on March 23-24,2012 in Window Rock, Az... they will have tags for auction....

thanks for the info DPH, and welcome to MM

How to start an argument online:
1. Express an opinion
2. Wait

Thanks, DPH.

So is it treated like any other unit in AZ? Or is it managed separately by the Navajo?

Do you draw your tags from the AZ F&G or through the Navajo?

Separate, The navajo nation is their own nation with their own laws and hunting regulations. The AZGFD has nothing to do with those hunts.

Thanks, AZHunter that's what I figured. Just wanted a clarification.

I don't hear or read anything about big bucks coming out of the area. So I am guessing its not a big trophy hunting area.

Proclamations should be out in early May check the site at nndfw.org also there is a Sportsman show and Banquet on March 23-24, 2011...their will be tags on auction that saturday 6:eek:o pm... Deer,Elk,Bear,Antelope,Mtn.Lion,Turkey and some tags from other tribes like Buffalo if your interested...

I have done some research on these hunts in the past. From what I gather, there are certain areas on the rez that are better than others. These cost more. And you also must hire a guide to hunt there. The better hunts get a little pricey, but they do kill some really good deer there on occasion.
