Goin huntin near Seeley Lake the end of Sept. Are there fires going on near there???

There are a few on the Lolo NF, but I don't know if these are near Seeley.

I dont think there's anything in seeley yet. There are fires almost every place BUT seeley proper. . .

I'd keep a watch, it's likely there will be a fire in that area, it's just the first of August. . .

LAST EDITED ON Aug-05-07 AT 09:31AM (MST)[p]Jocko lakes fire is growing rapidly. It started a few days ago and is already 5000 acres. It will more than likely be a big one. Its close enough to Seeley lake to warrent evacuations.

Everything is blowing up now. Chippy creek, Brush creek, Seeley. Radio this am said thunderstorms possible today, tonight and tomorrow. Cripes. I didn't think we would actually see Stage 3 fire restrictions due to the political bashing the FS took the last time, but I don't see any way out of it this time. Looking at bow season going down the tubes, at least the first 2-3 weeks if this keeps up.

Seeley is real scary, and there is one West of Darby that could cause real problems. drahthaar, I hope the seasons aren't cancelled or posponed, but maybe it is time to shut the door to the hills for awhile before anything else happens. The FS seems to wait just a few days too many. Kinda like 2000. mtmuley

People are STILL doing some incredibly stupid things, cigs thrown out, campfires, etc. I was just up checking some trail cams the other day and could hear some dope on his motorcycle off in the trees. The FS is pretty gunshy about everything, they took such a political lashing in '03 when they closed up the woods, they really don't want to do it. And I am as hard on the FS as anyone, but with people being as dumb as they are, I don't see how they have any other choice.
Watch those Chippy creek and Brush Creek fires too. Nothing but a carpet of unlogged, thick timber between Chippy creek fire and Flathead Lake.

Right now, I would be shocked if we get to bowhunt on Sept 1. I can still hunt 30 acres of private land for a whitey around my house.

fish and game gated off the blackfoot-clearwater game range. thats a fun gate to see at 5 in the morning when you have a full day of scouting planned out.

Is that a gate that is usually open and they just closed it for fire reasons? Or is it one that was just put in brand new this year?

the gates always there but usually open from may 15th through the end of hunting season
