The whitetanks are mostly regional park. You cannot hunt with a firearm in the park. The east side of the tanks are mostly private all the way to the park boundry but the west side still has alot of state trust. I have spent some time out there but with lack of water and lots of various land use the deer are mostly nocturnal. Its not an area that I would focus on, especially during a rifle hunt. Thats not to say that nice bucks aren't in there or that you couldn't have an enjoyable hunt, I just think there are areas in unit 42 that are monumentally better and would provide a more enjoyable hunt.
I live within 2 miles of the tanks. I will go in there during the archery hunt if I have very limited time to hunt... like after work. Honestly, if you have the time, you'll do alot better over in the Vultures.
