This time of year is about as boring as it gets on MM, so I decided to help out. Each Monday I will post a picture of a nice buck and tell a little about it. I may have posted the pics before, but oh well. You may add your thoughts, guess a score or width, or just look.

This picture was taken Nov, 2002. I went for a ride with my wifes dad, brother and his kids, to Antelope island one evening. It was raining lightly, so I left all optics and cameras home. As we pulled into the parking lot at the Garr ranch, my niece screams, theres a deer. I emediantly scan the fields and trees for a look, but saw nothing. I ask where and she replies right out your window. Not 10 ft away, this buck is standing there looking at us. I started smacking my head saying stupid, stupid, stupid, for leaving the cameras home. A beautiful typical framed buck with double droppers that close and no pics.

When I got home, I got on the phone with a couple buddys and told them, we got to be on the island 1st thing in the morning, and told them what happened. As luck would have it, we got some nice video and pics of him after all.

It's been a long hard ride
Got a ways to go
But this is still the place
That we all call home

Wow, he has it all. That would make most peoples day. Not to mention a buck that one would have little chance to top without large amounts of $$$. Thanks for sharing.

Monday don't look so bad now. Wow that deer has it all deep forks, width, drop tines and size that will fill the freezer. And you found him 2 times.

Yep, this buck was a slug. Unfortunatley, two weeks later, he was found with his antlers got in a wire fence, to exhausted to move. In addition, he had broken his skull plate, and was therefore putdown by the DWR.

Wow Yelum, what a sweet buck he was!

It started out as a cute story but turned dark pretty quickly. But I guess that's what happens from time to time.

We have some deer that live across the street from us. Two of them are good solid 4 pts and I've had them standing right on my patio at 10'. I have not seen them yet this spring but I'm sure they're still around until they get stuck in a fence or hit on the road. So goes it for a city buck!

Thanks for sharing your goods with us! Keep it up man!

yelum, thanks, made my day. droptines are the best ,,, just wolfen you about passing him up.

Elk, the last time I checked, back in 2003 or 4, the rack was in the SLC office lock up shed. Ron Taylor, island manager, wanted to bring it back to the island, but the park and division were having a power struggle over the deer herd. It never made it back, and may have been sold at the auction. I just don't know.
