New Mexico 2b Rifle

Son and I drew a 2b hunt rifle for Oct 20 to the 24th. Would love to hear some pointers from other hunters. I know it will be crazy with road hunters. We have no problem walking into the closed gate areas. Just curious where to start for best chance gas buggy or Caracas mesa. Any help would be great. We do plan to scout this summer as much as possible.

hey brother congrats on the hunt its a hard one to pick up, anyways its been bit since i hunted out that way but, both areas have some deer on them, always found the bigger bucks on caracas mesa on the peaks south of navajo lake but its a good hike in. good luck out there

I hunted the late hunt several years ago. I took my mountain bike to get around on the gated roads. Saw lots of deer that way and ended up getting a reasonable 170ish buck.
