I posted yesterday in the Utah section, but only got 1 response back. Figured I'd post it here under the general section and see if anyone has had any luck with this area. Thanks.

its utah what do you expect, you will be chasing 2 points like everyone else. Utah manages for yearling bucks, if you want to hunts something better try limited entry.

i have never hunted the area myself but i have heard good things about it. Thats why it was one of my choices on my draw and it looks like thats where i will be for the opener.

I hear the same thing about that zone. It's not the Henry Mtns. but some hard should pay off. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the laugh Buck, and I totally agree. I often wonder why people waste their time wasting other people's time.

AG, do you have much hunting experience? Have you spent much time on the unit? I have a friend who has that tag. (It was his 2nd choice, the rest of our party drew #1 or didn't draw.) He lives in Blanding and might be willing to hunt with another hunter. Send a p.m. if you need to.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-07-12 AT 07:16PM (MST)[p]if you want to go guided id bet todd black of black timber outfitters is your best choice. he is the one that responded to your other post.

i dont know anything about the unit. but dang near every unti in utah has some good bucks on it regardless of what everyone says. i hunt 170+ bucks every year. and usually see a 190+ every year. they are there. ive seen nice bucks in the entire state. from northern to southern etc. if you want to shoot a a big one dont shoot a little one. some years you may go empty handed but you will maximize your chances by holding out the entire hunt for a dder you want but may not get. hunt that area every year and you will learn it and learn where the big guys hang out. it takes time to learn what deer do on each unit. jumping units every year will leave you clueless on where to begin hunting every year. stick to 2-3 units, apply for the same first second and third choice units every year and learn those units. years you dont draw go scout and learn them units still. you dont have to have a tag to scout and learn and frequent a unit. when you do draw the tag you will know right where to start and will maximize your chances of getting opportunites on nice bucks. before these units i hunted 5 different units and jumped around alot because i knew a lot of good ares. im actually kinda excited about the smaller units because it will force me to stick to 1 area and hunt it harder instead of jumping from here to there.

+1
There are good Bucks on this unit . It Did Have a big Winter kill in 07 though . May be able to hunt some private for a trespass fee.

Was up there this last weekend, The mountain is brown already, had 40 some lighting strikes and had 11 fires on the mountain and not a drop of rain from a storm that pass thru a couple weeks ago. Saw a couple of small bucks wasn't to impressed with the amount of feed left that they will have make do on.
Farmers fields are buring up without water, it going to be hard year for the deer and elk if they don't get some summer water to grow some feed for them.
If you decide to go guided Travis and Todd would be the way to go they always seem to find some good ones,That will be more inportant in a bad year.
I have a ML tag and I will be doing a armed camping trip this fall. LOL
