Hi all this is my first post on here but I have watched read and learned alot over the past 2 years or so. So Ill start off by saying thanx! Anyways to my question, I was in the mountains in Colorado over memorial day weekend, me and the family did some hiking and fishing but we found alot of mule deer. I was curious how long after they shed do their antlers start growing? Also how long do they grow?
Thanks!!!
Jason

A lot of people say that when a deer or elk loses his antlers he starts growing new ones right away. in most areas mule deer shed thier velvet in late August through mid September. fatrooster.

fatrooster hit the nail on the head.

I think they grow from ABOUT March through August (6 months), here in Utah. The antlers are certainly through growing by the time the velvet is rubbed off since the velvet is the source of nutrition for the growth.

My 2 cents,
Zeke
