High country archery

Hey guys I'm planning a high country archery muley hunt for August 31st- September 2nd. I've done a lot of rifle hunting up high later in the year but this will be my first with a bow while I wait for the elk to get going. I've been researching on google earth pretty hard and have some spots to scout in the next few weeks. Just wondering if any of you who take these kind of hunting trips have any tips or anything willing to share to possibly up my chances on one of these tough hunts? Thanks and best of luck to all of you this fall

Best advice I can give you is to hunt more days. 3 days is just too short unless you are real lucky. You will also need to get off trails, even deep in the wilderness, as you dates are over labor day and the hikers will be out in force. That said, 3 days of "scouting/huntin" are better than sitting at home typing into the computer..

Yeah I would like to go more days but that is all I will have time for. The couple basins that I have been looking at on google earth are 3.5-4 miles from any roads and not really a place where I see many hikers if any. I'll be sure to get out and scout it all here in the next couple weeks though

Utilize the weekend hiker and hunters to your advantage. This will push both the deer and elk into what I call the soft spots(areas that the horse hunter go past and just far away from the weekend warriors for them to feel safe). Good luck, hunting early is a lot of fun. You get to see a lot of the animals that go into hiding when the first gun goes boom.
