A question for you guys who have watched the progress of a few bucks in the past.
I saw a buck yesterday(July 7th). It has 1.5 to 2" drop tine about 2" from the end of his main beam. Knowing that he has about 3 or 4 more weeks of growing to do. How much more length could that drop tine get? I'm guessing his main beam could grow another 3 or 4 inches.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-08-12 AT 04:47PM (MST)[p]I don't know where you get only 3 to 4 more weeks. They grow until mid September from my experience. I filmed a bull I named Trashy on July 6th or so 2010 and he put on almost 40" of mass and trash after that. His shed had him at over 200" and there's no way from what he looked like in early July that we would have thought he'd be that big.

I don't think we have any idea what critters could become from here. This is the first warm dry spring we've had in 4 or 5 years since 2006 or 2007. I'm predicting a banner year for trophy's here in Utah. Horn growth is just off the charts vs. the last few years.

Cheers,
Pete

pretty hard to say. I watched one last year with a 2 inch dropper ( only an inch to 1 1/2 when i first seen him)within a month he grew around an 1/2 to an inch more on the dropper. so who knows. let us know how it turns out. pics too if ya got em

Here's some video of him. Not much for tine length yet but I'm hoping for a few more inches. I'm guessing him to be around 28" wide right now. Do you guys think he will make it to over thirty? If he does go over thirty, I think I'll be pulling the trigger.

I dont know about growing til mid september, but I do think mid August very easliy. Any buck I have seen unless it were a stag was stripped by mid September. The buck I killed last year I saw him on the 4th of July and he was about 200" and by the time I killed him August 20th he was done grown and finished at 226 and change. So I think with good conditions they can still put on a lot, I do think we need to get some moisture though, FAST.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-08-12 AT 09:34PM (MST)[p]Other than his width I don't see that buck scoring well unless he puts on an awful lot before he quits growing. He also doesn't split on the back left side and will lose inches there.

We always hear guys on here say... "Who cares about score".

I think this buck is a good example of that. All I care about is how wide will he get? Hoping for 30"+ and how long will that drop tine end up.
Reguardless, he's a great Utah general season buck.

AMEN! I think you'll get more out of him but not until September that's crazy.
