Chad Kulow Buck

He chose not to strip the velvet making it ineligible for B&C. I'm not sure where it stands pope and young. Regardsless of records that was one awesome buck.

How long before this post gets nuked like every other time someone asks about this buck??????

"Why does that happen? Is there some around the buck?"

There always is controversy When it involves mossback!

I was just curious, he killed that buck the same year my brother in law was on the Henries and I was looking at the record books and could not see it anywhere. Someone mind PM'ing me and giving some details if it does not want to be broadcast in public??

Though he may be associate with mossback, I don't believe mossbasck was associated with this hunt.

The Velvet catagory for P&Y are only listed for a 1 year period and then gone and the new 1 year period comes into play.

No need to play the Mossback card....they have nothing to do with record book rules...

Not actually correct, Robb. The P&Y records programs accepts velvet entries for all antlered species. They are not ranked, and will make an appearance in one edition of the record book.......which is every six years. So, in essence, a velvet specie will be in a record for at least six years. They are also permanently archived (viewable) on the records DVD that accompany all record books now.

Velvet has nothing to do with this particular buck being accepted in the P&Y and/or B&C records program.

I think it's because he wounded a deer called the pitchfork buck earlier in the day and gave up looking for him then shot this buck. They spent less than a day looking for the wounded deer before they took this one. That's what I heard

Thanks Roy !!

For the confimation on how a Velvet P&Y entry Muley terms of record book entry lasts/stands alone at the top.

There certainly has been some confusion, over the years, about the whole Velvet Muley Entry Class in P&Y.

Robb

P&Y Doesn't accept any species that were put in a freezer during the 60 day drying period. This buck was kicked out of P&Y along with BOONE & CROCKET. I believe you can read the story on the boone & crocket web page.

I don't know about Utah state record. However this buck was for sure not the World Record. Even if he did leave the velvet on. I believe there was a buck killed in New mexico that same year that was biger and the buck Brad Hunter killed on the strip that same year was bigger.

Funny how all the pictures of this buck promoted new World Record. Regardless it is still a sweet buck. Just not a world record like promoted.

The reason it was touted as the new WR is because it exceeded the score of the current WR, which would make it the new WR, if accepted. If another buck then again exceeded its score, that would make that buck a potential WR.

Yelum

Yelum, I see what you are saying but if it was never officially scored how did it score as a new world record? Just sayin.

not something i would do but people do it like crazy dont understand y puting a legal tag on a deer if his score was better wouldnt make him a world record ?

The real reason it's not the new WR is because it was actually a doe with antlers. I know, I didn't believe myself at first. It wasn't even a dry doe. To top it off, he shot it while her fawns looked on in horror, they were bedded close by. Unbelievable what trophy hunting has become. It's still not known if Chad was aware of the bedded fawns. But if you look close in the video, you can see one of the babies trying to stay hidden from the hunter. Sad deal for sure.
