When I first saw this buck in Nov of 2009, I thought he was a great buck with lots of potential. An 11x11 rack spanning 33-34 inches wide, and only a 3 1/2 year old buck. The following year I was blown away at his beauty. His 37-38 inch spread and 9x9 rack made him a joy to watch. I had no idea I was looking at the most expensive deer I will probably ever see.

After taking these pics, my buddy Ryan crawled on hands an knees to get within 20 yards of this toad, to get some cool video.

As always u never disappoint. That buck was a hogg. Utah needs more just like him on general units to help with genetics and population. Thanks for awesome pics.

Isn't this the "ranch buck"? I thought this buck was passed for broken points.

Pale, WD passed on 38 special because he was broken up and killed this buck with the auction tag. State hunter then killed 38.

Larry,

gotcha my mistake. in the photos i thought they looked similar. I have been wrong once or twice in my life before. You would definitely know better than most!

i know WD and one of the guides that took him. needless to say he ended up putting about 300k into getting him. he's an absolute toad

I've never been a fan of wide bucks, and sadly, this deer is no exception... Just my preference. If he had all the same tine length, but curled back in a bit and had about a 30" spread- that'd be my dream buck...

Great photos though. Thanks for sharing...

Also, don't take my criticism of this buck as a sign I wouldn't shoot him given the chance...
