In Utah we just went to unit management. Except for the Ute tribe.. They still get to hunt the whole north east region... What's up with that?

Your waking up a sleeping Giant with me. But they also get tags for bookcliffs, wasatch, etc any unit with tribal ground within the boundary and they get access to the whole unit. They also get them alot easier and faster than what you or I could draw them in. This is just one perk to the many ones they get. Like multiple tags for a same species in a same unit. Trust me I know I grew up with several tribal foster brothers and got see all this first hand.. Gotta go I just puked in my mouth!!!

I think it's a great trade because we get to hunt all Tribal land which falls within any unit for which we have a tag. (tongue-in-cheek of course)

I think we'll all be waiting a long time waiting for "fair" in our lives.

Um, frankly, considering how badly we massacred them when coming out west over a century ago- I can live with a few natives having access to good hunting... My bro-in-law is Lakota Sioux, so I may be a bit biased that way- but I always had respect for natives even before he married my sis...

Out of curiosity- does anyone know how many of them actually hunt..? Or how many animals are harvested on Res land..? Do they even keep track..?

LAST EDITED ON Aug-25-12 AT 05:49PM (MST)[p]I realize it's a touchy subject but personally, I feel like those folks haven't and never will be justly compensated for what was done to them and their families. Indians are not the cause of declining deer herds.

some of you guys are full of shizz. try living on a rez, they are not picked on,,,what a joke,, if you think we owe them something give them your truck,,, chewyman55.

Let's see; Vietnamese, Arabs, Haitians, Cubans, Senegalese, Koreans, Serbians, and about 40 other refugees I can't think of right now get a free ride.
Government services, student preferences, cheap loans, tax exemptions, and about 40 other things I can't think of right now, and you guys are upset because the NATIVE people here get to hunt on about a bizillionth of their ancestral territory?

Government forms, DMV forms, etc...etc...etc...are printed in about 40 languages I can't think of right now, but I bet Lakota Souix, Apache, Navajo and Ute, ain't included.......could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Kind of messed up, but did you ever stop to think if the Pilgrims would have taught Native Americans to pick cotton and pour concrete, how much better off this country would be today?

We have already given them lots of handouts. I say it is time for EQUALITY. Dont all minorities say they want equality? How about we make them start working for a living, and following all the same laws that we have to follow. I am ok with them hunting on our lands, but they should have the same restrictions as we do.
(I know some of them work, I have a few friends who are indians. I was raised on the reservation. we need more that are willing.)

I'll tell you who it was . . . it was that D@MN Sasquatch!

If I could afford to donate a truck, I'd do it. There is no more deserving group of individuals. The way I see it, you're lucky someone else did the "dirty work" and you can now hunt on their land.

chew. thats what i thought . you and that joke for a president live in the same dream world,,,,

Excellent! Thank You!!!!

why are they still victims? our ancestors took over their ancestors ground... why do they need compensation? ...... seriously. i have nothing against the natives, but come on they can live like the rest of us

They should be allowed to hunt their ancestral lands. However there needs to be bag limits like the rest of us citizens have to abide by.

That is all North America. LOL

A friend of mine has this saying posted up in his office and it can be used for alot of examples other than animals. But with the Ute Tribe it hits the nail on the head.

"Please do not feed the animals because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves."

Its absolutley sick and wrong

my ancestors hunted on the henry mountains I think I should get a tag there every year.

Call it what you will. I don't agree with the way the hunting is regulated or unregulated in their case but, to come on here and piss and moan about all these fantastic "PERKS" that they get is unfortunate.

You guys crack me up. So I guess because our ancestors practiced slavery, every African American is supposed to get their own land, build casinos in any state they want, not pay any taxes and hunt whatever and whenever they want? Makes no sense to me. I really feel bad for the Seminole Indian tribe. One of the richest "corporations" in the U.S. right now. The only Hard Rock they don't own is in Vegas. Yep, those poor Native Americans.:) So much for being equal opportunity eh?

It's always an adventure!!!

Geez.......do any of you whiners on here have a high school diploma? How about a living relative with a high school diploma?.......maybe a GED?

Why don't you just go there and hunt on rez land anyway, and when the Injun's show up, just shoot the dumb bastards?
