LAST EDITED ON Sep-28-12 AT 08:47AM (MST)[p]I took my son out to do a little scouting last weekend on the book cliffs. On the last night we were talking about what we had hoped to see on our last morning of scouting, he was trying to say he really wanted to see a NON TYPICAL buck but instead he kept saying "I want to see an UNUSUAL buck". I kept teasing him cause he couldn't get the words right. Well the next morning we saw this buck...

I said "there you go, there is your unusual buck!"

He's certainly an unusual buck. His mommy must have had an elk as a "visitor"! hehe

If I see one like that on Saturday he might be in trouble.

Cool pics yatran. Good luck on your LE hunt.

I'll bet the does love him. Can you imagine what he could do with those horns?

The other bucks are probably jealous!

If you were to find his sheds... you would have to think they were from a spike elk. Cool pics.

By the way, I think it's really cool that you are sharing your love of the outdoors with your son!

thanks everyone. when I first saw him, I didn't know what he was. We had seen a spike elk not far from there the previous evening so that was fresh in my mind and his head obviously looks like a spike elk as much as he looks like a mule deer. Plus as you can see from the pics the buck was a pretty descent size as far as his body goes. So at first, I was confused to say the least. Definitely did a double take!

Now for pics of the real monster. here is a pic of the actual big one we did see.

I know, I know...trust me I'm a better shot than I am a photographer! But in all honesty, the blob on the right was a very nice buck, one I would be happy with opening morning! If you squint your eyes just right you can see how tall and wide he is ;) what do all you professional scorers think he will measure? Think he will push 180? :)

Yes, when I squint just right I get him right at 182 2/8". Very nice buck Mr yatran! Your photography is on the par of BBilly's photos.....NOT!
Now go out and find him where justr-86 told you to go.

I have a rifle tag out there and went scouting a few weeks ago and I saw the same buck I actually hiked off a ridge just to follow him and get pictures and video. Very cool deer

Well Preddy!

I know where this Buck's Daddy is!

I've seen his Dad 2 years in a Row during November!

First time I seen him I thought He was a Big Buck!

Running away from me!

200 yards!

He looked Heavy & Wide!

Then I see what looks Heavy is November Velvet!

Then I notice the Main Beam!

29"-30" wide!

But that's all He has is a Main Beam,no ther Points!

One of the Wierder Bucks I've seen!

This Buck Posted above must be Jr?

Can't wait for the Opportunists to start Screaming for a Management Hunt again!

Part elk. LOL nice picture.
