Vernon dead head

I heard it scored 342" which seems unreal...I cant wait to see it. I heard a hunter found it but it hasnt been announced because it is still under investigation. Ive heard its only 9" from the world record from back in the 1920's
 
This I gotta see. Was it a freshy, or an old pioneer came accross the plains kinda thing. Hopefully it's true. Who woulda thunk?

personaly, I dont believe a deer that big could live in that unit without being watched by some kind of posse....
 
just heard from a buddy that said he seen a pic, he said its a recent kill/death, still brown antler. ill post photo if i get it.
 
I heard the same thing about brown antlers however I have not seen pics. I have family that lives by the unit and its still a quiet subject for some odd reason

so if it's decided that the buck was poached, just image what the rack will sell for at the next auction!
 
IMO, if it wasn't poached, and hunted ethicly, and someone hit and couldn't find the buck, im sure we would have heard on here they need help finding a monster or something like that. I fear that since we didn't hear anything about a buck like that then its possible it was poached. hopefully it wasn't poached though.
 
Ohhh man. I gotta see this thing. Even is this story has stretched...I don't care...I am ready for a good dead head story...and lots of pics! Come on guys...I'm ready.

I found the buck alive, but I am just like hangingmeat, I am not going to post pictures until we know for sure it is dead, and I am trying to get a trophy fee then i will trade for a 170" buck (originally what i had set my heart on). lol ba wa ha ha ha ha. it's fake, I seen some pictures a couple weeks ago on a cell phone.
 
Holy crap, I'm glad I jumped on here, my buddy has a muzzleloader tag in Vernon, he shot a giant buck last week and we all looked forever for it with no success. Anyone have any more information on where on the unit it was found? I sure wish someone had a photo to see if this is the same buck. One thing I know for sure is this buck was enormous.

Trophy fee?? Ha Ha..... Good luck! I've got a pic of it on my phone too. Trouble is I happen to know the DWR Officer who works that unit, along with several others. And, ya, the story is BS. Guess we'll find out who's facts check out....

After further review, the pic says 310 gross, 42 inches wide. Sorry different buck.
 
Wow. My first reaction was that it lacked a little in the mass category. However, I think it's just so dang wide and tall that the mass gets visually lost. Wow, what a frame!

It's not photoshop. It's all real bone. Bunch of different antlers put together. Richard Dorchuck made it.

If you look at post #30 below the kid it looks like a carcass laying there. This first came up in 2010.

I'm wondering if there's gonna be any deer left out there for the rifle hunt. :) I may be forced to hit up the DWR so they can locate the Xmas tree buck for me. JUDAS PRIEST.....

LMAO!!! The real story? It's been told numerous times in this thread. The damn thing is a fake. The guy that made it and took pics to make it look real. It has been an internet folklore buck for several years now.
 
Or that's what somebody wants us to think so the DWR doesn't come knocking on somebody's door. Wheres the Proof!!! That its Fake.

The "creator" of the above buck knows what I'm talking about! Less than a dozen people even heard the rumors of this pig until several years after it was decided he had died, then the partial story was revealed.

Just sayin'.

Hey Chet, I was talking to my neighbor today and he was telling me about a huge buck found on the Vernon this year. The husband of a lady he works with, found the buck. The DWR said it died of natural causes. It's reported to be 36" wide and about 10-12 points per side. My neighbor said he would send me the picture of it and the guys name that found it in the next couple days.



There's always next year
