I drew the public tag on this CWMU. It was well worth the wait of 18 years. We watched this buck for over two hours, not knowing how big he really was. We thought he was a 30" buck, but we found that his ear spread is 28". Although he did not score that high, 35" will look great on my wall.

Great buck. Love the width and character on that rack. He will definitely look good on the wall.

Great looking buck. Certainly not one they would have sold to their private clientale. From what I hear the Heatons are very solid but still a profit seeking, image keeping CWMU.

The Heatons obviously, no matter what, treat there paying clientale well. But, I feel that I was treated with real concern on there part. CWMU's cannot survive with out both high paying clientale or public hunters, they both work hand in hand. What they have to offer there is a chance in a life time for most. The hunting, even there, is not that easy. You still have to work for it. More often than you would think, the high paying clientale goes home empty handed, because they do not find the buck they want. In fact, that level of clientale has agreed to increase the cost of their tags, in turn to limit the amount of tags sold. I would say that helps the public hunters and well as the quality of the hunting. The Heatons, the guides, are a class act.

I have heard the Heaton's are class act. Especially from the horror stories I have heard from other CWMUs.
That is a very cool buck. CONGRATS!!!

Couldnt agree more about the fact that they do have a rep for being a class act. However, given the fact that they pull nothing out but 200" class bucks for their paying clients including a few this year, I do not believe they would unload your deer on one of them. That is no slam against your buck what so ever. I think its a stud and one that anyone should be proud of. Great job!

Dan, Congratulations on an awesome buck.... If I'm not mistaken that is an awesome Toyo Tire hat......just sayin

I drew the tag last year, and I thought they treated me like a champ. I passed up many many deer and as far as I was concerned it was worth the 17 years of putting in.

Drew the tag a few years ago. They are a class act! I was treated no different than the paying hunters. Shot the deer I wanted, cactus buck, because I didn't have one and i'm a taxidermist. We like anything weird.

Congratulations on the great buck! I heard that the Alton CWMU was having a hard time this year due to the drought. Anyone heard anything?

They've taken a few gaggers of which a couple have shown up on here from various people. Now if they can just get their hay laid out for the migrating deer to stay on top a little longer we may see some more hit the ground from up top the plateau/Alton.
