My first time out to the Book Cliffs was a blast! I had my father-in-law, brother-in-law, and cousin with me. I only had from Saturday(20th)-Tuesday(23rd) to hunt so not a lot of time. We saw some nice 150-160' class bucks over the 3 days, but kept passing them up in hopes of that big buck we have all dreamed about.

The last day of my hunt we had a nice 4 point (165+ class)buck disappear on us in the morning. We took our eyes off of him for 15 seconds to figure out a game plan and that is all it took for him to slip away.

That evening I was starting to get a little discouraged, wondering if I was going to find a shooter or not... And then we saw this sweet buck 20 minutes before dark. I noticed he was very wide, but also noticed he was only a 4X2. But after checking him out for a few minutes, I couldn't pass him up. It is not very often that you see a 30 inch 4X2 with eye guards.

I had a great hunt at the Book Cliffs with great company. Thanks Ryan, Justin, and Skyler for helping me get this bad boy!

very cool looking deer! My cousin shot a 2 point that was a little bigger than that one. Those are 2 cool looking bucks!!

where were you seeing all those good bucks i hunted hard and talked to a lot of frustrated people seeing very little. i was on the mccock ridge road

I don't think I would have "checked him out" for more than 10 seconds. Nice buck! You don"t get that width very often so you should take it when you can. He has nice mass too. Good job.

We were down there as well and my friend killed a 28 inch two by three pretty impressive really. We did see a thirty inch three point too. They've def. Got that gene out there. Congrats on your buck he is very cool and unique.

Nice, he looks old too.

Congrats on your success!

We spent most of our time down low in Evacuation Creek area. We also saw a lot of deer in the Wolf Den area. (Not where the fire was). I think the opening weekend Hot weather made it tough, but this colder weather that has moved in should help! Good luck.

Thanks Guys! It was an awesome hunt! I had a guy that knows his stuff when it comes to finding out the age of deer and he thinks he is 6-7 years old. I guess I will know for sure when I get the survey info back.

We saw a really cool looking buck that was killed in the same area of mine. I will have my brother-in-law post a picture soon. 200+ class buck but only 18' wide. The beast had some mass on him!

A local guy killed this buck, we saw the horns in the back of his pickup truck as we were driving by, and we had to stop by and take a look. I've never seen mass like this on any buck! Sorry I don't have any better pictures.

We seen that 4x2 a couple times. I think I herd your shot about 20 minutes before dark as well. Good job!

bdizz, did you end up getting a Buck? That is crazy that you saw my buck a couple times because we hunted that canyon a lot and that was the first time we seen him.
