LAST EDITED ON Oct-29-12 AT 00:18AM (MST)[p]I found one I couldn't pass up on Saturday AM at 8:15. Second to last day of the rifle season and my last day hunting the rifle season. I usually choose to wait for the late season archery fun (DH), but this guy was just too good to pass up. 150gr Fusion from my favorite .270 and he dropped in his tracks.

Big thanks to my buddy Tyler that helped make it all happen and helped me pack this one off the mountain. We don't get to hunt together often enough and he seems to pack more of my animals than I have his. As always Ty, I'm indebted and will repay the memories!

Who knew a Badlands Hyperlight pack would hold a full hind qtr, full front shoulder and all the loose meat off a buck like this. I also carried the head/cape out balanced on my pack/shoulders and it was a pretty good load to say the least! I was missing my 2200!

PERFECT hunting weather, good friends and a nice buck - what more can I guy ask for!? It was a great day and one I'll always remember. Not often you can kill a good buck with your lifelong buddy, pack him off the mtn, buy your father lunch and talk old hunting stories AND take your wife and kids to see the UTES pound CAL all in one day. I was a tired dog, but a happy one! Life is good and we are blessed to enjoy the freedoms and lifestyle of living in the West!

Haven't put a tape to him other then quick measures. 23.5" wide and 19" tall. I could care less about score, the memories of the hunt mean so much more! I do have two little regrets: 1.)that my 9 year old son Chase wasn't there to see this all go down. He has the fever and I want to keep feeding it with great experiences. 2.) I wish I would have turned my GoPro on BEFORE the shot. I did kick it on after to walk up on the buck and take a bunch of pics, but at the close range of ~75 yds, it would have made some great footage.

Happy Hunting!
