Here is my 2012 Books buck. I was fortuante enough to draw this hunt and had a great experience out there. I took him on the sixth day of the hunt. I passed up a few bucks that were a little bigger but when I seen this guy and looked him over in the spotter I decided I liked him enough to pull the trigger.
I shot him at 323 yards and dropped him with one shot, but then again, when they get hit with a 300 grain bullet they usually do!
I seen plenty of mature deer every day and that's what made this hunt fun, being able to pass young and debateable deer with no real worry that you wouldn't be able to find another mature deer.
My dad made the trip out with me and spent the whole hunt there helping me out, he got to watch the kill through the spotter and said it was pretty neat watching the buck fold up and drop. I am a very lucky guy to have a father like mine, he spent a lot of his own money and gave up a lot of time to help make my hunt possible, but then again he always has and I have never heard him complain about it in 32 years. He lives for it like most of us and if he had to I am sure he would pay for the entire hunt if he had to just cause that's the way he is.
I would also like to thank a friend and fellow MM'r for all the help and advice he gave me on this unit. He was a ton of help and just want to let him know that I appreciate it a ton. I am not going to list his name though cause I don't want people to start hounding him for info in the future. He knows who he is and I want him to know that I really appreciate all the help.
