What do you mean, "wonder what are they looking for?" A big deer of course!!! Certainly not elk or antelope. ha ha
The gov. tag spotter(s) look at 44 every year, plus there are numerous locals who are always on the prowl over there for the $10,000 buck (finder's fee). There are people looking everywhere. The way many big deer are found is by putting the word out about a $10,000 finders fee and hoping someone will spill the beans on a buck they know of in some corner of the state.
The gov. tag spotter(s) look in lots of places every year. From high country areas in the summer to the winter range in Nov. and Dec.
44 grows big deer, so of course they'll look there. Wouldn't be a very good hunter to pass on one of the better units in the state. I'm certain many, many other areas and units are looked at to.
Not sure on the helicopters flying all over. I doubt it though.
