If you are talking about the thread for photos, that's because it's for photos, no chit chatting back and forth about each photo posted.
I'm not sure what you are talking about. You guys are welcome to talk about the photos in another thread, but I just didn't want that thread cluttered with posts asking about each photo, talking about them, etc. The thread is for photos.

I just read the photos thread. No cyber tissue needed. I wasn't crying. I would just rather not have a crapload of talking going back and forth in a thread that is a photo contest. I don't know. I just think it clutters the whole thing up if 2-3 people reply about each photo posted, then conversations get started in there too.
Ya, I'm going with what I think, and I think I don't like to have all the chit chat in those threads I post for photo sharing/contests.
There are about 100,000 threads on this site, the talking can take place on another thread.

OK, let's hear it. How many are OK with the chit chat back and forth in those threads calling for photos like that? I guess if the majority don't care, then so be it. I like those threads just full of photos, but...............

Well, he started a thread about the photos, and it got removed. I think he's wondering why. None of us can start a thread and contol what people say on it, and many disagree with not being able to comment on the photos posted. Thats what the photo gallary is for. Just saying.

It's pretty easy to scroll past the words in a thread and only look at the pictures. I hear guys do it with girly magazines all the time! LOL
I can't figure out what the beef would be. Having text in a photo thread is why I look at a thread. A photo without comment is just a dead (or alive) animal!
Some guys need to look up the definition of a "forum"!

I look at it like this......I'd like to see 100 different posts with photos posted, but if there is also 3-4 replies to each and every photo asking questions about the photo, saying cool pic, saying you're the winner, etc., then the thread turns into 300 posts and only a 1/4 of the thread contains pics.
I guess I just figure that the forum consists of 100,000+ threads, can't a handful be just pics for people to enjoy rather than wadding through chit chat? I don't know. That was just my thought.
If people want to post those same photos and talk about them, they're more than welcome to start another thread. Hell, you guys could start another thread about any pic in there and give someone the "atta boy" or whatever. It doesn't have to be in the contest thread itself.
Anyway, I like those little photo contest threads to be all photos, but I guess it don't matter all that much. My opinion is often based on what I believe the majority of viewers of these forums like to see. My opinion of what the majority likes to see is based on 13 years of doing it. ????

I agree with most here. If I wanted to see "photos" only I would go to the photo gallery where people can't say a damn thing! But what do you expect on a hunting forum where people share thoughts, ideas,whatever the heal we want ect...??

For me, places on this site to visit like the Hunt Adventure Challenge and the photo galleries, they are fine but because there is no chit chat between members, i find that i don't visit there or participate.
I like the banter of the open forums as long as it's harmless. I think if you wanted no chit chat you should have originally set it up that way, not place it in the open forum then come in way later with huge letter post, nasty note like Mom used to do back in the days when i needed to clean my room or risk getting my butt kicked!

Founder, to clear up your initial confusion, like Yelum explained, after you said no chit chat in the snow pics contest thread, I started another thread where we could chit chat (specifically so people could compliment me on my pics and vote for them).
It was all in good fun and there was a little bit of banter back and forth. Then, the thread got deleted. It obviously wasn't you that deleted it, so it must have been one of your deputies. I'll bet it was either Rosco or Barney.
As far as whether or not contest threads should allow commentary, I don't really care. I personally prefer to read the comments along with the pics, but I understand your rational as well.
I'd still like to know why the other thread got deleted.
And, I think I deserve a DVD for all of the anguish you've put me through.

I never could put my finger on why I didn't get a bigger kick out of the photo gallery or hunt adventure area but Sage has succinctly enlightened my as to why I don't. Probably the same reason I can't stand most of the hunting shows.
The comments bring the human element to the site.

I see it the other way, you asked for photos on the open forum and when it didn't come out exactly as you had envisioned it, You got your panties bunched up your butt. Everyone else seemed to be fine with the thread as was.

I agree with Founder. In a photo contest thread the less chit chat the better. That way I can look at the photos with an unbiased opinion and decide which photos I like the most.

This is one of the funniest posts on here, even the head "feller" is not immune to sarcasm.....I love the winter deer thread, with or without comments....stunning photographs....I am personally waiting for it to snow so I can take pictures and enter the contest and get my free STD! I agree with everyone else, chitchat is good! I've been doing the HAC thing for the past 2 years and the one down side to it, is I don't know if anyone even is lookin'. I think people are, but sometimes I wonder.
