When did sticking multiple bucks and 150+ yard archery shots become something to brag about, anybody else seeing this on the front?

I have a 150 yard pin and I practice all the time, its not my fault if the buck jumps the string and I shoot it in the ass.

Sounds like there's a story to this. I would love to hear it, seeing as you don't want anyone to post the bucks they got on the front this year.

Are you serious!!!! cuz its hard to tell... Its a givin if you shoot at one at that distance that crap is going to happen... The biggest part of hunting is making a good stalk to be able to make an ethical shot! That is what makes a good hunter and its not someone that can fling arrows like robin hood and get lucky!

I practice with my rifle at all ranges and even out to 5-600 yards... it doesnt mean i can take game ethically at those distances while hunting.

And Yes... that would be your fault if you fired the shot and didnt consider the variables. Take some responsibility!

Wow Typical Freak... you totally missed Shotguns sarcasm...

Well, I shoot all year round! I practice out to 170 yards and I feel comfortable at that Range! I also trust my Field Tip to Get the Job Done! I trust it more than any Broadhead out There! Sure there's always gonna be 8 or 9 deer that get away a little wounded but hey! It just toughens em' up for next Year! It's good Conservation! It's worth it too when you finally kill one at 150+ yards and all that Practice Pays Off!!

1) Windows smashed out at Pine Crest.

2) Got yelled at by a Subaru driver in Pine Crest.

3) Hunted archery one season. It was 2001 just before the Olympics. Got out of work early on a Wednesday afternoon. I thought I'd be alone. A bunch of trucks were parked a little ways of Emigration. Everyone was watching a buck that had been hit. The shooter said it jumped the string and would be fine. He was headed to the Uintah Basin the next day to fill his tag.

Then I decided to go to City Creek. I started walking from the Upper Avenues. I passed by a large group of deer including about 12 bucks. It was in an area that cannot be hunted. One of the larger deer was crippled. I passed by. I ran into a guy who said he wounded one. I tried to help him get it. Then I ran into another guy who was looking for a buck he hit.

What a day.

4) Went to another spot later. Some hunters pointed out some does behind a house. I asked are they too close? They said nobody will hear.

5) The hunt closed down early that year due because of too many hunter conflicts. Didn't get to finish the hunt.

I would complain about archery, but we all know archery hunters are the most ethical of all hunters and make very little impact on the herd.

I would complain about the Wasatch Front hunt, but who wants to be the guy who shuts down the circus?

Haha ya i guess i did... Sometimes its hard to tell over net/text and the like... or maybe it just me

You should complain......to the right people. When you see problematic or unethical behavior, call it in. Ethical hunters need to send a message to the unethical ones --We are watching and will turn you in. They need to know that we won't allow them to threaten our privilege to hunt?anywhere, not just the front.

Complaining about it on an internet forum after the fact doesn't help the cause; in all reality it's doing more harm than good. Take action when it could actually make a difference. Who doesn't carry a camera of some sort with them? The DWR can't be everywhere. Hunters need to police themselves.

From a PR perspective it certainly makes a difference that call to the DWR about an issue came from another hunter versus a homeowner or Jane & John Hiker.

When hunters are watching each other there it induces the Hawthorne effect. Simply put, when people know they are being watched they behave differently.

+1 MountainTime--

Im sick of getting grouped into the unethical, clueless clowns that fling arrows across windy canyons. There are jackasses in every unit, every state, every hunt. The front gets picked on because we're passionate about conserving it and all archery hunters statewide converge on it every fall.

I wish they'd make it a Premium LE unit. Dish out only archery tags with the same season dates. I would still issue a lot of tags, but make hunters commit to one unit. The front is a fall-back option to archery hunters who don't tag out in Aug.

"You skin grizz?"

+1 Addict.... I used to hunt the extended ALOT in high school. Seen some dang good bucks and the circus was BAD back then and I would imagine it has got alot worse. Since then I have moved to Southern Utah and dont hunt it anymore.....It would be awesome if they made that a premium LE unit. Move alot of people through the system and would help control hunter numbers. If you think this year was bad just wait till you have EVERY youth hunter in the state that didnt draw a tag obtain an unlimmitted youth archery permit. Kind of a joke if ya ask me....

I agree with you on this. wait til every youth is up there with dad and buddies hunting up there cause they all get archery youth tags. That place just went to he11!!!

I do get tired of being put into this archery group of unethical hunters. Its like saying all the rifle hunters that are lobbing bullets at 1000 yards and dont go to check if the animal is/was bleeding. They dont need to go check if he did not drop in his track, cause he is still alive.

Although, I dont want to see it go to a LE unit.

What is really hard is a 150 yard shot from a moving 4 wheeler while texting. That takes some practice let me tell you!
