I just read this over on FB about a giant buck that was found dead. I'm sure many of you know about this buck already, but it seems that he's been killed or died, what a shame . . . http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...796580560.3264.100002369196537&type=1&theater

"Roadless areas, in general, represent some of
the best fish and wildlife habitat on public lands.
The bad news is that there is nothing positive
about a road where fish and wildlife habitat are
concerned -- absolutely nothing." (B&C
Professor, Jack Ward Thomas, Fair Chase, Fall
2005, p.10).

I believe this is the buck.

LOL @bucksnort . . . LOL just doing my job . . . ;-) link works for me . . . sharing photos is always fun but just because it has someone's name on it does not mean it's yours to share, that's all . . . cheers!

Is Jackson Hold in Wyoming? Is it a typo, a real place, or is it almost one name but not quite another?

Too bad that buck died. I guess they all do eventually....even the ones not killed by hunters.

Helluva buck! Thanks for sharing the info.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-11-13 AT 11:34AM (MST)[p]sorry the link is not working for some. links to content are different than removing content onto your drive, then re using it . . It is indeed a typo (we cant change titles once they are posted) - it should have read, Jackson Hole . . . In any event, the real issue is the tremendous buck is dead, that sucks . . . Piece . . .

The person that I talked to at the Jackson Hole G&F office said it died from a leg injury, I'm guessing probally hit by a car as it was hanging out by a road.

When I was photographing this buck in December, he was limping on his front left leg. He looked to be in good condition that day. The leg must have got infection. I am very sad this buck is dead, he was incredible to see. I was really looking forward to seeing him next year.

RE: Jackson HOLE buck Dead

I was very fortunate to be able to photograph this great buck for his last few days. I'm glad I took the time to go and try to find him.
I'm not surprised this buck died, judging by the looks of his battle wounds. I noticed after reviewing my photos, that his nose looks like it has been busted up. Also, you can see a large amount on blood on his left side as well as blood on his antlers from fighting. On the day that I got the best photos of him, he moved nearly 7 miles keeping does in check. At one point, he pushed another large buck away for at least 3 or 4 miles.

P.S. Don't be stealin' my damn photos...they're clearly copyrighted! This goes for your stupid computer desktop backgrounds. :)

RE: Jackson HOLE buck Dead

One can honestly call a buck of that caliber 'A Legend'! Sweet pics of a remarkable buck. Glad you got to witness a buck like that in this day and age.

RE: Jackson HOLE buck Dead

Rambo great video.. did you have permission to post your own video?

RE: Jackson HOLE buck Dead

Great pics. I have noticed something very disturbing in Wyoming....our flags are not at half mast for this buck.

LMAO.

RE: Jackson HOLE buck Dead

It makes me sick seeing a buck like that and knowing he died a few days later.

I would've supported WYGF trying to rehabilitate that buck. I know nature is brutal, but he deserved a chance.

TFinalShot, just an FYI... the difference is that news agencies make a profit from the pirated photos (i.e. it is a commercial use). This means the original owner of the photo can claim damages since they were not given any of the profits.

Also, the photos posted on MM, which are copyrighted by the photographer, are originally uploaded to the internet for solicitation/commercial purposes (i.e. they were meant to be seen by the public and there was no assumption of privacy).

That is not the case with twitter photos... they were always meant for personal, non-commercial use.

I'd like to see somebody try and win damages from a picture on MM. Especially when the poster made no attempt to claim ownership and left the signature of the photographer on the photo.

Using somebody's photo as your own to solicit something (guided hunts, landowner tags, etc...) is much different.

Its pretty basic stuff, really.
