Thanks! I am really happy how the mount turned out! I worked really hard on the form to capture the look I was after. The hunt was the coolest experience I have ever had in the field.

Thank you Ghillie! It was an amazing year for me. I havent put a tape to him yet. He is a beautiful buck but the hunt and the experience I had is the true trophy. I was just lucky enough to get an arrow in him. Thanks for the nice comments!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-31-13 AT 05:34PM (MST)[p]great looking mount and buck...

Question for you, or anyone that may know the answer.. in the kill photo the velvet is nice and plush. When you choose to keep the velvet and inject it will it always lose the nice plush look? Do you have to use the spray stuff to keep it looking like that?

I think it looks good either way, but cant help but notice how much different it does look. Never killed on in velvet.

You did the taxidermy?? nice job man.. i really like the rolls int he neck...

Thanks and again, congrats on a stud buck.

Yes the velvet is tricky. There are several ways to preserve the velvet. All but one cause shrinkage and the "fuzz" to look a little shaggy. there is alot of blood in the veins and when it is flushed out, it has no choice but to shrink. That is whay my the velvet on my buck looks a little rough. Freeze drying is the only way I have found to preserve the velvet and keep it plush with out shrinkage. Keep in mind though, if it is a record book animal and you plan to enter it, they will NOT allow a freeze dried set of antlers. The reason is because it does not dry and shrink for 60 days in its natural state. Another option would be to have artificial velvet put on.

Yes sir, i did the work myself and thank you for the compliment.
