Hi guys I plan on hunting around the Custer National Forest Ekalaka, Broadus and or Ashland area this fall (early Nov). I was wondering if there was much benefit to bringing ATV out on this hunt or if a truck and pack frame are enough. I've beat my share of trucks on crappy mountain roads and found ATVs are sometimes quicker and less painful to get to the trail head. I've never put a boot tracks in this area so any advise is appreciated.
Thanks guys

I don't think an ATV is needed. A good 4x4 truck will work just fine in those area's. Unless it rains, then nothing works. And I wouldn't plan on finding many trailheads in those areas.

You can reach the most remote parts of the Custer in two hours with a good pair of hiking boots. There are a lot of two track roads that you could use the ATV on but I have hunted there for 35 years and have never used one.
