Took this pic last year, and thought if a buck can grow a dropper his first year, whats he gonna be at 5.

When I saw this buck today, I was shocked at how small of a body he had compared to his buddys, then realized what buck he was. This is only his second rack. He could be a secial buck in a few years.

Theres logic, and theres women. They don't go together.

I agree Yelum but I wouldn't worry too much about this buck.......surely someone will wack him way before he has a chance to get big.

This buck is not going get wacked before he has a chance to get big! There are WAY bigger out there! You will see more pictures of him. Just buy mossbacks next video! Give him a couple more years and he will be in the crosshairs. I saw this buck last year and this year but did not make the connection that it was the same buck. Amazing growth for one year.

Cool buck! Hope he survives to his prime. Aside from the area and the dropper that appears to be in different positions, are there any other characteristics that confirm this is the same buck? His rack appears to be sitting differently between the two pictures, but a lot can change in those early years. If it is the same buck, he did grow a lot for a 2 year old; looks like a 3 or 4 year old in my area

LAST EDITED ON Jul-14-13 AT 03:06PM (MST)[p]Identifying bucks from year to year gets easier as they get older, but is very difficult from 1 to 2 years old. In fact, this is a first for me, as I never pay small bucks much attention. He was the biggest 2 point of his yearling buddies and the only one sporting the droptine. All 2 points racks sit straight up their first year, but as they get width, they will sit different on the head. I usually look for ear or face characteristics to identify them without antlers, but in this case, I am doing some assuming, based on the group, area, and body size. I'm still very certain its the same buck.

Hard to tell from pics, but this 3 year old buck, with bad genetics, has a much bigger body the the younger buck.

Awesome potential. Thanks for posting Yelum. One year while shed hunting the henries, my buddy found a small four point antler. Nothing to get excited about until we put the base next to all of my buddies spike shed bases and realized it was likely a 1.5 year old buck with awesome genetics.
